Conspirators of Pleasure (1996)
Jan Svankmajer's combination of live action & stop motion animation. One of a kind sexy fetish film experience that is completely WHAT THE FUCK! IS THIS RIGHT!?
One of those foreign films that will get stuck in your head for days and make you constantly repeat OKAY WAIT WHAT HUH??? A surreal facial hair mystery thriller that you must watch with a friend so you can be confused together.
The ups and downs of small time hoods living in the Big Apple with appropriate bigger than life acting from Rourke and Roberts...
...and just an air of cool.

Ninja III: The Domination (1984)
I just don't know what to say about this trashy masterpiece. It's like a ninja movie plus an over the top action flick plus....The Exorcist.
Loads of cool ninja gadgets.
And I mean there is even an evil arcade machine for fuck sake...

Bully (2001)
Dogme film #1 directed by Thomas Vinterberg.
Plot: At Helge's 60th birthday party, unpleasant family truths are revealed to everyone. EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT AND CAPTIVATING AS SHIT.

Dark comedy laced with poignancy, great direction, and Nicolas Cage's best and most reserved performance in years. Michael Caine TAKES OVER everytime he enters the frame. I love this movie so much.
Sam Fuller takes on a taboo subject that was completely ignored at the time: but I'm not gonna spoil it for you. SLAM BANG POW BORF of a rockin' opening too!
Linda Florentino is one evil manipulative femme fatale of a sexy bitch in this outstanding John Dahl neo-noir.
And the sex scene up against the fence is DIE-NO-MIGHT
And the sex scene up against the fence is DIE-NO-MIGHT
Houses some moments of absolute filmmaking genius and also contains perhaps the greatest sex scene in the history of cinema. Then duh that ending.
I like the line from Roger Ebert's review, "It goes so far over the top I'm in awe." Me too.

Watch Beat Takeshi slap the living shit out of this poor kid over and over and over and over and over and over. Nihilism in its funnest form. Beat's 1st film as director.
Streets of Fire (1984)
It's like a stylized B-movie western with street thugs and tough guys set in the 80s mixed with the 50s. I know that sounds ridiculous but its pretty accurate.
Willem Dafoe is the main villain...
...and at one point he wears black vinyl overalls as he emerges from fire.

A Short Film About Killing (1988)
A+ comedy that has never been given its due except a shitty ass remake okay I admit I've never seen it so maybe its not so bad cause it does have Albert Brooks in it. The crazy foreign dictator and his hand puppet friend made me pee my pants.
Otis (2008)
Horror comedy about a serial killer that really isn't that bad of a guy. Poor, lonely...fat, fat Otis.
The Boost (1988) (1988)
James Woods likes cocaine. Watch him enjoy it in the privacy of his own home while you sit in yours with or without your own cocaine.
Heavenly Creatures (1994)
Pauline and Juliet are really good friends. Don't split them up or you might regret it A LOT. Yeah so don't do that.
Pre Lord of the Rings Peter Jackson shows that he is a well rounded filmmaker in nailing this troubling drama of friendship and love gone mad. Masterpiece imo.

JayTrotter's rating:
The Brain (1988)
The opening 8 minutes is CRAZY and the rest of the movie is some very enjoyable big brain monster trash cinema about the big scary evilness of television!
JayTrotter's rating:
The Minus Man (1999)
Subtle, well paced serial killer drama with Owen Wilson not embarrassing himself somehow. Brian Cox too.
Tim Roth as Vincent Van Gogh and directed by Altman. His bloody, calm death walk is fucking remarkable.
Runaway Train (1985)
Eric Roberts and Jon Voight all aboard a runaway train and it's all an allegory! Voight, Roberts and the editing all got Oscar nominations. Eddie Bunker (Mr. Blue) and Akira Kurosawa worked on the screenplay.
Documentary about two guys and their constant search for the creature known as Bigfoot no matter how bad their lives get. As fascinating as it is heartbreaking.
Oliver Stone's post-Vietnam film. How to live a normal life after it's all over. Or at least try to. One of Stone's most commonly ignored.
Go, Go Second Time Virgin (1969)
Flashpoint (1984)
Understated mystery film noir with Kris Kristofferson and Treat Williams teaming up to solve the case. Big scale conspiracy theory twist at the end that is pretty cool.
Coal Miner's Daughter (1980)
Will always be my favorite Tommy Lee Jones performance. Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn rocks too. I feel like I didn't have to say that last part though.
Romeo Is Bleeding (1993) (1994)
Kinda Tarantino-esque but before all those QT wannabe flicks really started to fly out. Gary Oldman is in it so it's a no brainer. Peter Medak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup those are legs wrapped around Oldman's neck.

The Lonely Guy (1984)
Steve Martin and Charles Grodin bring the sad laughs. They pick out fern plants like they're pets and improvise tons of dialogue. It's pathetic & great. Neil Simon too.
Cutting Class (1989) (1992)
Before Brad Pitt was Brad Pitt he was in this awesomely cheesy fun slasher flick. Brilliant ongoing gag with the main girl's dad trying to get back home during the entire movie. Written by the creator of Salute Your Shorts, Steve Slavkin.
Jeff Bridges is Edward Furlong's ex-con dad and times are tough as seen through the eyes of Martin Bell, director of the notorious Oscar nominated doc, Streetwise.
The Puffy Chair (2007)
One of those typical looking indy comedies at first glance that is actually unique, touching and well worth a watch. Has some fucking wonderful moments.
Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989)
Down n' dirty Hubert Selby Jr. (Requiem for a Dream) adaptation with my future soulmate, Jennifer Jason Leigh bringing a Boston Film Society Best Supporting Actress performance to the table (shared with her performance in Miami Blues).
Not every flick here is a top to bottom masterpiece (well some are dammit) but I will guarantee you that every flick is filled with an OH SHIT moment or two or strives for something big n' bold n' ballsy or will be branded into your brain until the very day you die. Or just all 3. Enjoy ya rat basta'ds!
Also, some are just amazing some are just underrated some are just obscure and some are just bizarre but most of the time there's a little mix n matching crossover going on but don't expect each flick to meet all four criteria. All I know is all these flicks just need more love.
