Note: I normally don't plan to watch remakes of movies that I love. However I hear nothing, but good things about this remake. The movie has really good world building with the Three Mothers mythology and handles the characters very well. For a movie that is over 2 hours, the movie didn't drag at all. I was worry that the movie would be pretentious to sit through and it wasn't.
The last half of the movie is totally worth the 2 hours + wait time. I also like that the movie is set in the 1970s, not in this decade because the story would not work at all in this day of age. I still enjoy the original version over the remake because I do think the original movie had a better artistic vision.
The original movie has a dark, colorful and surreal feeling going for it along with a great musical score. The remake does not have that dark, beautiful, and vividly colored abstract horror artistic design that the original had. I still enjoy the movie nevertheless. I recommended it.

Note: The first Boondock Saints is a movie that I have grown to like over the years. I remember the hype for this movie back in 2009, but I avoid it after hearing it was not very good. Since it's on Netflix, I'm like "What the hell not?!".
I can see why people didn't like this movie because this movie feels like a rehash of the first movie. This movie didn't do anything new or original than the first movie did. Not to mention, some of the humor was very unfunny at times. I do think the action sequences are enjoyable though. Avoid this sequel and watch something else instead.

Note: I haven't seen this movie since 2007 and I feel like this movie gets better with each viewing. I love how the whole movie plays out from start to finish. The movie has you on the edge of your seat on what will happen next. It's also fun to re-watch this movie and look for clues in the background in the movie. Highly recommended this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

Nemesis (1992) (1992)

Date: 2/6/2019
Viewed: Amazon Prime
Rewatch
Note: Another movie that I have not seen since I was a little kid in the 90s. Not a great movie, but still a lot of fun to watch. The plot may be unoriginal and the dialogue is pretty corny at times. However, the action is top notch and the special effects are pretty good. I also do think the story has some cool ideas that need better execution.
The movie is worth checking out if you enjoy testosterone-fueled action movies.

Bride of Re-Animator (2013)

Date: 2/8/2019
Viewed: Amazon Prime
Rewatch
Note: I feel like this movie is almost good as the first Re-Animator movie. The story, special effects, the dark comedy and the gore are all top notch. If you enjoy the first movie, you will probably enjoy the second movie.

Note: I end up seeing this movie with my family and it's not my cup of tea. It is very well directed and well acted, but I could not get into the story and characters in this movie. It was hard for me to pay attention when watching the movie because I didn't care about anything going on in the movie. I give it credit for being well made though.

Note: I got the DVD dirt cheap from my local Good Will store and I know nothing about this movie other than it is a popular classic movie. So I went into this movie blind and I end up really liking it.
I love how creative this movie with the idea of the movie focusing on one character then it takes off on the life of another person that may just be walking by on the street. I also love all of the character interactions with each other too. This movie is totally worth checking out.

Fist Viewing
Note: I watched this movie for the first time and I end up liking it a lot. I remember avoiding this movie for years because of the movie's themes (pedophilia), but they never cross the line with it. The story is so raw and edgy done in the right way instead of having it be pure shock value. I love how they were able to make the story and characters feel so realistic because this movie almost feels like it is based on a true story despite it being fictional. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the other actors in this movie did a fantastic job on their roles in the movie.
Most people are probably not going to like this movie or watch it which is understandable because the themes in this movie are a huge turn off for people. If you can handle edgy movies, this movie is worth checking out. I want to check out more movies from Gregg Araki now.

Note: I didn't think that I would like this movie, but I did. This movie had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. For a 90 minute movie, the pacing was perfect because the film never slows down or goes too fast for the audience. I really love the story and the symbolism that the movie uses to tell its story. This whole movie felt like if David Lynch, Alfer Hitchcock, and David Fincher team up to make one big movie.
I can see myself seeing this movie again for a second viewing soon. I highly recommend this movie.

The Four Feathers (1939)

Note: I watch this in my film class and I did enjoy it. The movie was ahead of its time with the bright colors look at the movie had. I also did enjoy the characters and story, but the slow start did ruin the movie for me. I'm still glad that I saw this movie. Check it out if you enjoy classic cinema.

Microwave Massacre (1983)

Date: 2/13/2019
Viewed: Amazon Prime
First viewing
Note: I remember this movie was always on VHS at every video store I would go to as a kid back in the 90s. I decided to check it out for the first time because it was super short to watch. For this type of movies, you can't have high hopes for it being good. Even for a trashy movie, it could have been way better.
The movie was pretty boring and the movie tries way too hard to be funny. Some of the jokes are funny and the special effects are decent, but the rest of the movie is pretty bad. Skip this movie and watch something else instead.

Re-watch
Note: Still easily one of my favorite movie of this decade. I have seen it three times already and I love it more with each viewing. This movie has a strange and creative way of telling a simple love story. It's funny, abstract, and charming all at the same time. The movie has a lot of depth going on in the story with the great use of symbolism. This movie is a must see for sure.

Note: I had low hopes for this movie and it ends up being way better than expected. As someone who has been a fan for the last two decades, the movie did a good job of feeling faithful to anime/manga and was entertaining. You care about the characters and the development for Alita was really good too.
The movie did water down some stuff from the manga, but they still did their best by pushing the PG-13 rating at the max. You can tell that the filmmakers made this movie for adults in mind and not the kids & teens that watch the Marvel movies or the Hunger Game young adult type of movies. Go see it now in theaters!!

Note: Anyone that hopes that this movie will be as good as Nightcrawler will be disappointed. I also went into this movie without knowing about the movie other than it was from Dan Gilroy.
It was an enjoyable horror movie that felt like an art house version of Final Destination. The story was quite fascinating, the acting was great, and the movie kept me entertained from start to finished. Check it out on Netflix.

Note: I randomly caught this movie on Amazon Prime because it looks like it would be a cool movie. It seems like many people dislike this movie, but I really enjoy it.
The acting was a bit off at times, but I really like the surreal story that this movie has. I also love the art direction and the lighting that this movie has. This movie was like if David Lynch and Dario Argento work together to make a movie. Totally worth checking out on Amazon Prime.

Note: It's better than most Sci-Fi channel movies and that's not saying much. The special effects are cheesy and the characters are paper thin. However, the cinematography is actually pretty good and the acting is not too bad as well. It was fun to see a killer dragon cause some destruction and eating everyone alive. The movie is fun to watch for a rainy day. Check it out if you like monster movies.

Note: I haven't seen this movie in the last few years and decided to watch it again. I still love this movie because I love the chilling and gritty atmosphere that this movie has. The movie also has great action and very well made characters. Highly recommended this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

Role Models (2008)

Note: I haven't seen this movie since 2008 when it came out on DVD. Not a great movie, but still a pretty funny movie. Most of the jokes still make me laugh and I like some of the characters. It was a fun movie to watch on a rainy night. Watch it now before leaves Netflix in March.

Note: I haven't seen this movie in a long and wanted to revisit this film. I love this movie, even more, the first time when I saw this movie when I was younger. Everything about this movie is fantastic.
The cinematography is beautiful to look at and the atmosphere was very well done. I love how dark and grim this movie feels because this movie feels like a horror movie at times. I also love the story and all of the characters in this movie. I high recommended this movie if you never seen it before.

Note: I haven't seen this movie since I was a little kid on TV back in the 90s and it still holds up. The movie is the anime equivalent of Fantasia with each movie having its own segments of stories. This movie has beautiful animation and has a unique way of telling a story with symbolism and language. Most of this movie is silent with no dialogue which makes this movie very cool and original for its time.
My only issue with the movie is some segments could have been better like Presence and Cloud. Presence goes on for way too long and Cloud feels kinda pointless. I still highly recommended this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

Note: I loved The Void and The Editor, so I decided to check out Astron-6's first movie. It's a pretty fun movie that is filled with cheesy acting and over the top violence. This movie feels like a movie that would exist on VHS back in the late 80s or early 90s. This movie would get a higher rating if it was longer. Overall, it is a fun movie and not a bad effort for their first film. Check it out if you like cheesy movies.

Note: I got the Criterion Blu-Ray on Amazon and decided to rewatch the movie. This movie is amazing from start to finished. The movie feels like a dark, surreal and beautiful fairy tale with vampires. I also love the story and see the journey that Valerie goes through.
Some people will probably get turn off by some of the sexual content, but they never cross the line with it. I still highly recommended this movie if you haven't seen it yet.

Ghostbusters (1984)

Viewed: Netflix
Rewatch
Note: I haven't seen the first Ghostbusters movie in a long time and it will be leaving on Netflix on March 1st, 2019. So I decided to rewatch the movie and it is still a great classic. There is not much that I can say about this movie that has not been said a million times before already. It is still an enjoyable movie with funny humor, memorable characters and awesome special effects. If you haven't seen it already, you should.

Note: This was the movie was pretty awesome. I went into this movie knowing nothing other than it is set in the same universe as Unbreakable. This movie was a very suspenseful and creative thrill ride from start to finished. I really like James McAvoy's character and how he was able to pull off so many personalities at once.
I recommended to check out this movie if you haven't seen it already.

Ghostbusters II (2003)

Note: I still don't get the hate that the second movie gets. The movie is just as funny and enjoyable as the first movie if you ask me. Sure, the movie does rehash some stuff from the first movie. I still enjoy the second movie nevertheless. Don't listen to hate and check out the sequel if you haven't seen it already.
