This is the Batman and Superman movie that we deserve!
Great laughs, great fun, everyone playing off each other to fantastic results!

I knew what I would be getting but I still do not like it XD
The Transformers deserve better (reboot; and I do not throw that word around lightly)!
A bit of a step up from 2 and 3 but that really is not something to write home about.

Ouch.
Emilia and Arnold you deserve better; you can do better!
There were interesting angles and ideas in this film particularly the relationship between Emilia and Arnold.
However, when I watch this film I thought I was being punkd because some scenes came across as an SNL skit and I nearly burst out laughing.
That....
is not a good sign.

A very interesting, stylized, and different film that really does pull one in.
However, it might have its own head a bit too far up its a$$ in its own style at times and that might take some people out of it at times.

The pieces are there and several ideas work.
But, at least for me it did not come together but just missed it by a small mark.

So ridiculous and stupid.

A film that certainly has problems (particularly in the effects department in terms of ageing).
But, damn if I was not hooked on this fun adventure that pays tribute to movie serial WAY before my time XD

A film that will be on my extensive Christmas film list to mix up the usual go to films.
Everyone is on fire in this one with the comedy and even the drama blending very nicely.

A fine watch.
The underwater scenes and shots are the highlights.
The on land scenes and character interaction not so much XD

I heard through the grapevine that some cool characters and scenes were omitted from this adaptation but I will be judging this film on it's own merits.
Honestly for a film I was just finishing as part of a Netflix checklist it was pretty great and surprised me I was really surprised.

Footloose (1984)
First Watched 9/7/2016
Strange me being a fan of the 80's that I hadn't seen Footloose yet and maybe there is a good reason because it is a bit (and I do not throw this word around lightly because I have a high tolerance rate for things like this) cheesy.
I mean this preacher dude thinks that banning dancing is the top priority to prevent any other deaths among the youth XD so yeah it is a little silly on premise alone.
But, it has a fantastic soundtrack, I really like Kevin Bacon's performance and his dedication to this role in taking dance so seriously it is pretty fun to watch, so I can't really fault this film because it carries such an energy and era to it.
So if I have an 80's film marathon in the future I think this will be among them.

A sequel that probably didn't need to happen but when compared to the ones that would follow it is miles ahead while still being miles behind the original.
But, I think there is still some fun to be had with this film sure it has less of a sense of danger then the first and you can tell there were problems with the production behind the scenes but Roy Scheider still brings a solid performance despite this and the cinematographer really gets some good sailing shots throughout this film.
So as a film to watch just to pass the time one could do a lot worse.

First Watched 9/6/2016
An interesting film with a great performance by William Dafoe it has some great location shooting, suspense, and intrigue but unfortunately it does have several scenes that play out a bit too long.

Nanny McPhee (2005)
First Watched 9/4/2016
A fun little magical story but rather mean spirited and gross in some of its humor maybe it is just a case of some humor lost in translation.
However, the actors all do a solid job even the kids! Plus, I found the romance that bloomed in this film was really organic and beautiful and I really enjoyed that aspect it warmed my heart.

Night of the Demons (1988)

I'm a sucker for the 80's :D
I am so glad I found this little gem of horror it was quite a fun and thrilling surprise! I mainly sought this film out because of my strange obsession with Linnea Quigley . . . . shut up! Don't look at me!?!? X3
But, seriously this film had everything that I love in horror films from the 80's scary and creepy moments but also wacky and unassuming moments that help fool you into a false sense of security. It has sex, violence, horror, what more could you ask for?
Also I notice that is does a few things to subvert some horror cliches and brings quite a few surprises to the table I would say if you are a fan of 80's horror you should really give this a watch!

The Final Girls (2015)
First Watched 9/3/2016
Have you ever put a film in your plan to watch section without knowing much about it? Yeah that was this film for me I just happened to add it one day and then selected it now to finally watch it and I have to say it was pretty good!
I love the concept of being thrown into essentially an 80's slasher film and having to follow a certain set of rules in order to survive. It almost reminded me a bit of Scream with it's self awareness. But, I loved the fictional horror film that they were a part of (I wouldn't mind seeing it as its own movie) and I enjoyed our cast of characters as well.
I feel like this is an idea that should be explored and used with other self aware horror films as I think there is a lot more untapped potential in this formula so fingers crossed for other installments of different veins down the line!

So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993)
First Watched 9/3/2016
This movie isn't perfect but I actually enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would. I found Myers to be pretty funny and the whole concept of potentially marrying a murderer is pretty good and I thought that they wrote the whole concept and reveal pretty cleverly.
The film unfortunately does drag at some parts though but for what it is I would say give it a watch and you might be pleasantly surprised :)

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016)
First Watched 9/1/2016
I enjoyed the first Neighbors film but this one certainly felt like a downgrade in a lot of ways. The first one certainly had some stupid jokes and gags but this one seems to amp it up even more it that regard. They also seem to hit the reset button on a few characters disregarding their development and motivations from the first film for the sake of comedy and the plot of this one. In the first film I feel some sympathy towards both the couple and the frat boys and had some animosity towards both as well so it struck a fairly good balance.
But, in this one I have almost no sympathy for these sorority sisters (yeah they try to give us some reason on how they have to act like POS because they have to prove their independence or some BS like that but then that whole thing basically implodes on itself). Maybe the reason I did not have sympathy for them was because the script made them walking jokes instead of characters first.
Also, I felt they they misused Chloe and seriously underused Kelsey in this film and that is unforgivable! So personally I would say give this one a skip.

The Secret Life of Pets (2016)
First Watched 9/1/2016
I saw this because I'm a sucker for animated films and also anything that Ellie Kemper and Jenny Slate are in X3
But enough about my silly excuses for finally watching something. Time to actually comment!
I can say that out of all the animated films from Illumination Entertainment I liked this one the best but that isn't saying much because the minions and despicable me films really didn't do much for me (except for a characters and sequences) on a whole and I absolutely loathed the dumbed down hypocrisy of their Lorax adaptation but that's a rant for another day.
But, the Secret Life of Pets is a fine animated distraction it certainly has some jokes and clever gags that work but it sadly also has jokes that rely on tired immature humor that a bunch of producers and executive heads insist on them being in the movie. It has some great voice work mostly from Ellie and Jenny

The Magnificent Seven (1960)
First Watched 9/1/2016
A fun adventure with a fantastic cast that every Western fan should check out at least once!
While the Magnificent Seven does come off a bit more Hollywoodish in its writing and deviations from The Seven Samurai it still manages to engage and excite and I'm so glad I finally watched it :D

A new month a new set of films. You know the drill! A few new a few old. So many choices for flicks so many possibilities. Good, bad I'm the one with the gun :D (If you get that reference you are pretty cool in my book :3) But, seriously looking to cross some off that have been on my "to watch" list for FAR too long and of course see flicks that came out this year. And providing some additional thoughts on all of them :) hope you enjoy it!
