The Experiment (2010)
Sunday, July 1st
I had to work a lot this weekend (boo) so my movie watching was cut back significantly. Anyways.
I loved this movie. While it is slightly predicatable, it still keeps you on the edge of your seat. Progagonists and antagonists are midley unexpected, and the ending was touching. Thumbs up for sure!

Well, I didn't see the ending coming. And I always love a good plot twist.

Hostel: Part III (2011)
Tuesday, July 3rd
What would happen if the movies Saw and got together and made a little baby movie? This would happen.
I have never seen any of the other films in the Hostel franchise, but I fell victim to Netflix, once again. Because I haven't viewed the first movies, I can't whine about how it is exactly the same thing over again, because I have no idea.
I do know this: They drop the F-bomb a lot. I mean...A LOT. So much that I started counting towards the end (55 minutes into the movie) by the end (1 hour and 35 minutes in lengeth) my F count was up to 78. Yes, 78 in about 30 minutes. I'm tempted to watch the first 55 minutes again just to count those.
Anyways, not my favorite. Not the worst movie I've ever seen, though.

First, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!
This was a cute romantic comedy, although it certainly didn't seem very realistic to me.
Who falls in love in less than a day?
The whole accdental marriage thing isn't even possible, as far as I know, and even if it was, why didn't they just get an anullment?
And what celebrity really hates the paperazzi that much?
Anyways, made for a good laugh.

Poor acting, but it did make me cringe more than once (mostly because I can't stand eye-piercing scenes)
But all in all, the poster was more scary than the movie.

This was a cute film. Nothing really unique about it, but it was sweet and fun to watch.
My one question is, how old is Jessica Alba supposed to be in this movie? Because she flirts with a 15 year old and she looks to be about 24.

This movie has a ridculously low rating, but I actually found it to be quite enjoyable. Lots of random big names in it, as well. Which was surprising. I really don't like either of the Wilson brothers, but I suppose I prefer Luke Wilson over Owen Wilson.

The Experiment (2001)
Okay, it took me forever to finish this movie because I often times get distracted when viewing films, and this one required my complete undivided attention (differnt language, lots of reading)
After seeing, and loving, the American remake of this film, I was urged to view the original.
Even though the story line is exactly the same, and even some of the dialouge is word for word, there are some key points that were changed in the remake that make these two films difficult to compare when it comes to quality. It really is an apples and oranges deal. Both are obviously cut from the same cloth, but the smallest tweeks changed the whole meaning of the movie.
That being said, I loved it, but I also loved the remake.
Overall? Excellent.

(In Theaters)
Yes, this movie was a little bit cliche, but that didn't keep me from enjoying every minute of it. Probably the funniest movie that I've seen so far in 2012.
The mere fact that a cute and cuddly teddy bear smokes pot, has sex and curses makes it hillarious (although a TINY BIT disturbing)
Definite thumbs up! I got my money's worth this time :]

This was a wonderful twist on the typical vampire epidemic movie. Seldom does the plot involve vampires hunting humans. Or trying to find a cure.

I loved this cute romantic comedy. Another hit for an independant movie. I was pleased with the ending, even if it was predictable.

This was your average, run of the mill romantic comedy. But it made me laugh a few times, and the conflict was decent enough. So I give it a 6/10.

I had actually seen this movie before, but it had been so long that I barely remembered what happened in it, so it's being filed under this movie diary.
This film had a Napolean Dynamite mixed with Superbad vibe. Corny and lame, but worth a few laughs. This just isn't my favorite genre of comedy, thus the 5/10 rating. Enjoyable to an extent. But I won't watch it again.

Darkness Falls (2003)

I was actually very hopeful for this movie. The first 30 minutes or so really had me going. Good plot, decentish acting, creepy antagonist, "make you jump" scenes. Everything that makes a scary movie, well, scary.
But then it turned into a wreck. It's as though the actors forgot how to act. Perhaps it was because there was little premise before the movie began to climax, so the mystery factor was taken away.
By the end of the movie I was just shaking my head and wondering how such a promising movie went so wrong.

What a strange movie. If you like the abstract and bizzare, this is for you.
From an artistic standpoint, this film is amazing. The camera work was very, very well done. The imagination behind it was also one of a kind.
I, personally, have to give it a low rating because I was fairly bored. I prefer a more defined plot, but that's just me.
However, it did keep me watching until the very end, so I'll give it that.

Another really good kidnap movie, in my opinion. Fast-paced action and an element of mystery (although some of the plot was a little expected) I was still very much entertained.

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Wednesday, July 18th
I saw this in theaters (not 3D) and LOVED it. There was action, humor, romance...really everything that it needed to be a big hit.
Of course, we have all seen every special effect trick in the book, so it's not like they went above and beyond when it came to that, but it was well done.
As for the story, I felt that Marvel did an excellent job at connecting you to the characters, especially Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone was to die for). I know that I can't compare her to Kirsten Dunst in the original Spiderman trilogy because she didn't play Gwen, but rather Mary Jane. (which confused me, by the way. Which love intrest is more accurate to the comic?)
I thought that the characters also felt more realistic than in the original franchise. Peter Parker definitely acts like a teenager would act when something terrible happens. Also, I enjoyed the comedic perspective that this film took. When he first realizes he has powers he is obviously FREAKED OUT and CONFUSED, and it takes him a while to get used to it. I thought that part really was a home run.
Anyways, overall, if you are skeptical about this movie, suck it up and watch it. It was amazing.

I kind of loved that Seann William Scott played a character a little out of his douche-bag norm. I actually really enjoyed this movie, I don't know why the reviews are so low...probably because it didn't really break any ground, but then again, what movie does?
