Great Concept, But...

"The Thirteenth Floor" starts out with a great concept and proceeds to flay it with the efficient brutality of a certain gender-flexible character in "The Silence of the Lambs." If you've seen "The Silence of the Lambs," you'll know who I'm talking about (hint- his initials are BB.) If you haven't, never mind it, but realize that plot of "The Thirteenth Floor" isn't nearly as good as it sounded on... read more

Description: Computer scientist Hannon Fuller has discovered something extremely important. He's about to tell the discovery to his colleague, Douglas Hall, but knowing someone is after him, the old man leaves a letter in his computer generated parallel world that's just like the 30's with seemingly real people with real emotions. Fuller is murdered in our real world the same night, and his colleague is suspected. Douglas discovers a bloody shirt in his bathroom and he cannot recall what he was doing the night Fuller was murdered. He logs into the system in order to find the letter, but has to confront the unexpected. The truth is harsher th ... (more)

The future kind of sucks. (431 movies items)

"Reason for the future sucking: Humans are living in a simulated city, that takes place in 1930's Los Angeles. Remember when in the 90's, virtual reality was supposed to be, "the next big thing" and be available to everybody, in every house? Yeah, me too. Year it takes place: 1990's/fake 1930'S L.A."

Pop Culture Phenomenon Films: 90’s (1908 movies items)

" A computer scientist running a virtual reality simulation of 1937 becomes the primary suspect when his colleague and mentor is murdered. Based on the novel “Simulacron 3" by Daniel F. Galouye, it turned out that thirteen was the unlucky number for the film, and was also unplugged by The Matrix. With critics giving it mixed reviews. The film was made, for $16 million, and earned $18.5 million. The film, featured earlier performances by Shiri Appleby, and Alison Lohman, the soundtrack feat"

"Broken Image Link Date: 4/14/2021 Viewed: Amazon Prime (Rental) Re-Watch Note: I haven't watched this movie since it was on VHS back in late 1999. The Thirteenth Floor holds up very well and I consider it to be an underrated gem in my opinion. I love the overall atmosphere and the aesthetics that this film has. The Thirteenth Floor has amazing visuals and they hold up very well even over 20 years later. I love how they were able to recreate the 1930s by giving it a classic pulp feeling to "
