newman and redford were just so cool. robert shaw was great. loved the music. lots of twists i didn't see coming. love this movie.

gregory peck was magnificent as the decent and classy atticus finch. "jean louis stand up. your father's passing".

i'll never forget quint's indianapolis speech, or the music. on the edge of my seat the whole way.
3 bogart movies in my top 10. not surprised. walter houston was great. "badges? we ain't got no badges. we don't need no badges. i don't have to show you any stinkin badges".
The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
great film, but it's mostly fiction. terrific climax, and of course, that song.
Unforgiven (1992)
clint eastwood as william munny, the killer of women and children out of missouri. easily my favorite western. "it's a hell of a thing killing a man. you take away all he's got, and all he's ever going to have."
the dude, walter, and donnie. one classic line after another.

the chemistry between spencer tracy and freddie bartholomew is terrific. great adventure flick and a warm story.
orson welles' classic film tells the story of charles foster kane, from his humble begennings to his rise as the worlds richest man. it's considered by many to be the best movie ever made.
Airplane! (1980)
"a hospital, what is it? it's a big building with patients, but that's not important now". still the funniest movie i ever saw.

marlon brando at his best. great performance by vivian leigh as well.
Marty (1955)
love this movie about a chubby schlub that finally finds love, despite what his friends and family think.
12 Angry Men (1957)
powerful story that takes place in a jury room. great acting by all, led by henry fonda.
The Hustler (1961)
paul newman as a pool hustler. great supporting jobs done by the great one and george c scott.
Good Will Hunting (1997)
"how do you like them apples?" great story by damon and affleck, with an academy award support from robin williams.

The Magnificent Seven (1960)
7 gunfighters are hired to protect a poor mexican village. yul brynner, steve mcqueen, & eli wallach among others. remake of the 7 samurai.
coen bros. academy award winner about a texan that stumbles upon a drug deal gone wrong, and grabs the money. problem is that psychopath wants his money back, and will kill anyone who stands in his way. great performance by javier bardem.
Hoosiers (1986) (1987)
maybe a bit corny, but a feel good movie about an undedog high school basketball team, and their unlikely playoff run.
about a pig that becomes a champion sheep herder. not just for kids. very cute, and will leave you happy.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
the coen brothers with another winner. great music, very funny, and great performances.
john houston directs 2 of the best..bogey and hepburn. her as a missionary, him as a hard drinking, cantankerous riverboat captain. bogey got his long overdue oscar for this.
Cool Hand Luke (1967)
paul newman at his best as a drifter from down south who gets jailed, and refuses to listen to authority. "what we've got here is failure to communicate"
American Graffiti (1973)
the last night of the summer before going away to college. great sound track..
leslie nielsen is hilarious as lt. frank drebin. the umpire scene is still the funniest thing i've ever seen in a movie..
Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962)
written by the incomprable rod serling, this is a story about a washed out fighter, anthony quinn, who gets used by his manager, jackie gleason, yet remains loyal. great acting, great story.
the great burt lancaster shines as an aging, small time gangster, in this film by louis malle.
great movie from john sayles. "i didn't ask for the anal probe" you tube that scene if you haven't watched the movie. well worth it
Witness (1985)
harrison ford stars in this thriller. who knew that dirty cops, and a loveable amish family would make such a good mix?
