It's no secret, I've been taking a rather keen appreciation towards video game music as of late. You might not find much in the way of innovation, but it doesn't stop them from being wicked tunes. I think they're highly accessible compositions in which anybody can enjoy regardless of their experience or whether they play video games.
At this moment in time, they hold the monopoly on melody. I can't remember the last time I've stumbled upon a well written piece of melody in film music. They're few and far between. While the film industry is losing ground, video games are doing just fine though and long may that continue.
