Chrysanthemum Big Book - Kevin Henkes
I remember the Library teacher reading the story and while I didn't grasp onto it too much, I looked back on it recently and said to myself "Damn, what was I thinking?" Beautiful coming-of-age picture book, possibly one of the best.

I paid little to no attention to the story and was absolutely hypnotized by the illustrations. Today, I realize that the illustrations are the story. Probably the book that made me want to draw more as a kid.

The Grouchy Ladybug - Eric Carle_II
Simple tale, typical for Eric Carle, but has something about it that I love that I can't explain.

John's Secret Dreams : The Life of John Lennon... - Bryan Collier,Doreen Rappaport
The Librarian bought this book to read to the class...and by class, she meant me. I was such a huge Beatles fanatic as a kid after the school put on a Beatles songathon (My class did "We Can Work It Out".)

Unfortunately, I don't remember much of this book, but my nostalgia is the sole reason this has a rating.
Director Black's rating:
Meh.

The Witches - Roald Dahl
One of my favorite children's books of all-time. Forgot the setting when the book was read, but can you blame me?
Director Black's rating:
Even as a kid, I thought this was mediocre.
Director Black's rating:
Ditto.

I couldn't stop laughing at the dark tone of these stories. When the teacher stopped reading it, I wanted to read it again.

The Giving Tree - Shel Silverstein
It's a classic alright. I mostly hear it from one of my close friends who jokes about how dark this story is.

I was starting to blossom more as a reader. While I still read Dr. Seuss, I wanted to explore more books my age. Thankfully, at my final year at middle school, a certain book broke through me.

Freckle Juice - Judy Blume
Meh.

Frindle - Andrew Clements
Don't remember the content, but I remember liking it just fine.

My Life in Dog Years - Gary Paulsen
The Beatles and dogs were my two main obsessions as a kid, so it made sense that I would have good memories of the book.

An autobiography of an author and his stories with dogs: it's as multi-emotional as it sounds.

Holes - Louis Sachar
My English teacher in middle school was my favorite teacher back then, so this book holds fond memories. Definitely much better then Marvin Redpost.

The teacher showed us some poems and asked us to create our own, and me being the perfectionist I always was, tried to outdo those wonderful poems resulting in [Memory blank]

Animal Farm - George Orwell
The final book I read in middle school ended up being my all-time favorite book for a while, and I credit for maturing my reading tastes.

I had great fun with the class I was reading with. One showed us a movie trailer done in Minecraft starring 50 Cent and Justin Bieber. It's as ridiculous as it sounds.

9th-Present

My first year in High School was spent in a boarding school that I hated, and I now go to a smaller (24 kids is the max) one that I feel much more at peace at.

The books I read at the first school mentioned were books that ranged from meh to good, but nothing background. A far cry from me reading stuff like Going Clear (The journalistic book on Scientology that the school wouldn't let me have), Persepolis and finishing off Animal Farm in my last school.

Thankfully, the other school which I'm currently at has assigned me many great books.

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry - Mildred D. Taylor
My first book read in school relating to race that unfortunately wasn't To Kill a Mockingbird. Barely remember anything.

Flowers for Algernon - Daniel Keyes_II
In a way, including this book is kinda cheating since I was assigned to read it in a textbook and read the full version in August 2016, but through all the Fridge Logic, it counts because of the impact it had on me.

Even though much of it was edited to fit that boarding school's standards, I still friggin' loved it. I followed suit to buy the book after remembering it randomly and to this day, it still remains my favorite book of all time (Tied with Going Clear).

You know how there are pieces of work that are so important to history, but you find it a slog to sit through? This is one of those. I like the story of Anne Frank, but most of it is just boring to me.

Though, I do give it kudos for inspiring Jeff Magnum of the Neutral Milk Hotel to make In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (One of my all-time favorite albums).

Of Mice And Men - John Steinbeck
The final book I read at my final year of high school. It was a solid read, and I liked many things about it, but I wouldn't return to it.

Lord of the Flies - William Golding
I found some parts to be boring, but the overall book does deserve most of the praise and reputation it has.

To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
My mom kept pressing me to read this book since entering boarding school, but I kept putting it off. Finally, my second boarding came around to assigning the class this. I tried not to read ahead (Something that rarely happens) because I was so damn invested. Hope I can get around to reading it sometime again.

Solid play with some great tension-building. Don't have any interest in returning to it though.

A Midsummer Night's Dream - William Shakespeare
I did have fun acting one of the pivitol scenes out for my school, but I didn't think it was anything spectacular.

Feed - M. T. Anderson
After a discussion of dystopias, my school's speech teacher brought up this one and am now currently reading it.
