Anime series I will always remember

One of the most emotional series ever. This was a continuation of the original Clannad, boy was this depressing. Sometimes I couldn't even handle some of the tension and emotionally-loaded episode. There were many times I just sighed sadly afterwards.

Fruits Basket (2001)

The way Tohru tries to convince someone of her own ideas and ideals, the way she does it so genuinely and puts her whole heart into it is touching. She is of the earlier generation, which made her stand out to me since she was a character I've never seen before then. Caring, gentle and compassionate about literally everything. With HUGE freakishly eyes to boot!

Besides its originality and amazing characters, the story and just everything else is so interesting you just can't stop watching even if you had a choice. The furry and bloody action sequences just roar at you from your screen. It's just awesomeness in a withered world. Did I say the cast actually consists of wolves?

I don't know where to begin. This show just shatters the whole genre and takes mahou shoujo's to a whole new and mature level. The story is amazing and while there is still an ongoing debate about plotholes and the questionable ending, I think this series is brilliant and simply a masterpiece. All hail Madoka!

Time of Eve (2008)

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

Yes, Time of Eve is all about these princples, albeit hidden in the story. What if you can only recognize robots or androids by the digital ring above their head? Once it's gone you won't think them to be different than from any other humanbeing. An interesting take on the interaction between androids and people and how they often abuse and take them for granted. One of my favorite series. I really recommend this one.

School Days (2007)

Ah, school days. How fun it can be to be so sexually active, all the while thinking there aren't going to be any consequences after your sneaky affaires; because that what it's basically about. You start out with this, what you think is an average guy you meet in every anime, but then the whole series takes a 180 degree turn. This show is an absolute shocker. Sure, he deserved a good spanking but what ultimately happened...

More shockers, yay! This one seriously freaked me out. To sum it up for a bit; evil cat eyes, huge machete, paranoia, screaming and just plain insanity. Just the way I like it.

We all know earthquakes happen quite frequently in Japan, but what if it would happen in Japan's metropolis on such a massive scale? This series provides a realistic look on what might happen then. You follow a little boy and his big sister; who was forced to take him to the museum for a little day out. Little did they know a huge disaster was about to happen. Sad story about two siblings who were quarreling over every little thing before, but are now afraid of losing each other and trying to survive.
Snowwy's rating:

This series tries something new and although some things are kind of far fetched, it's not bad at all. The relationships amongst the group are realistic and not typically 'sweet' you get to see often. But what got into those people's heads when they decided to name a character Anaru? Seriously?

When you take a quick search for it's definition in Japanese: 'Japanese transliteration of 'anal', meaning, in this instance, anal sex. In current use.'

I see what you did there.

Another (2012)

Interesting but again, kind of far fetched. But who am I kidding? It's anime for crying out loud.

Slap a curse on a village and BAM! It's misleading in the beginning; you wonder if some people really exist or not, but then you start to wonder about other things. About the common sense of some people, for instance.
Snowwy's rating:

A actionpacked story about friendship (and secretly also lesbian love). I love the animation style and characters.

Casshern Sins (2008)

Casshern, you are so cool! Kyaa! I would search for some pics online of this series just to see what I could expect. While I didn't like it at first, once I had seen it in motion and all its glory I was sold. Unique story with action that keeps you on your toes.

Claymore (2007)

A whole lotta action in this one and that's a good thing because some do it crappy and some do it well. Then you have Claymore who does it insanely well. It's been quite a while since I've watched this one, but I remember I sat through the whole thing (which is around 24 eps I believe). That's only possible for me if I really LOVE it and man, did I love it.
Snowwy's rating:

This was one of the first eye-openers for me. It showed me just how awesome Anime actually could be. It always comes to me, a certain feeling you have when you know you have found that series that stand out from all those others. You will watch it wide-eyed, completely focused with your curiosity peeked and have that fuzzy feeling inside. While this isn't the best example I can give, this series definitely did it for me.

Death Note (2006)

I can't say much about this series others haven't said already. Personally, I hated Light because he was so damn selfish, but I guess that's what power does to you.

D.Gray-man (2006)

This was my third anime series after Naruto and Bleach. I'm just a sucker for male characters being voiced by female seiyuu's! Great characters and story, too bad it (probably) won't continue.

Elfen Lied (2004)

I remember being taken aback when seeing Lucy with her bare breasts out in the open and leisurely walking out of a facility to take a dive from a big cliff. Scandal! First time I ever saw nudity in an anime series. I had a minor 'I am 12 and what is this' moment. This series is one of a kind, even today.
Snowwy's rating:

I was watching this only because everyone else in my street was. Childhood sentiments.

Ergo Proxy (2006)

Sadly, (or maybe not) the only reason I remember this series is because of Re-l, or Real Mayer. Man, even for an animated character, she is just drop-dead gorgeous. Especially at the time of the series being created, the animations were stunning. The story was okay, though at times confusing, and it proved to be quite philosophical in the end, which I quite liked.

Eureka Seven (2005)
A mecha anime with flashy robots and an added feature; snowboards! They don't really use snow though, they hover in the sky by basically gliding over these particles. Kind of. Also, pink explosions. Eureka!

It wouldn't have been the succesfull FMA it was today if it wasn't for Paku Romi and Kugimiya Rie. They brought this show to life with their excellent voice acting.

Edward and Alphonse's search for the philosopher's stone begins after a failed attempt to resurrect their mother back to life with a human transmutation (which only brought her back as a cripple, as you might know), resulting in Ed losing an arm and leg and his little brother his entire body. Eventually their journey reaches great heights throughout the series and almost every episode has a cliffhanger worthy of being agonized over. The homonculi play a big and great role, each presenting one of the seven sins. I think Lust was my fav.

Naruto (2002)
This was the first anime series I watched actually... I had a great time, until I eventually noticed there were only fillers and nothing really added to the story anymore. I was probably 1 or 1,5 year(s) watching anime then, but I endured. After watching some 20-30 eps of Shippuuden, I dropped the series. I still read the manga though.

Sasuke is a biatch.
Snowwy's rating:

Same with the fillers...

This was the second anime I watched, since it was kind of similar to Naruto because it was action-oriented. My cousin actually recommended this to me and after watching some episodes I quite liked the story. The thing I didn't like about Bleach, however, is the main protagonist; Ichigo. I still don't. That's why, after a while, I also completely stopped liking the series. Mainly because of one thing: Ichigo NEVER loses. Sure, he might lose the first time, but then he trains and wins the second time around. It's just... Meh.

Ichigo is also a biatch.
Snowwy's rating:
An anime series about an Akita Inu named Weed? Right on, man. I can vaguely remember that the story was about this dog who went out to recruit more dogs to kill a bear... I can't believe I watched the second season of this. More surprisingly, I also thought it was good! What isn't cool about two Great Danes mauling people and a standoff between a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua?
Snowwy's rating:
Ughh.. Can't... handle.. the yuriness.

Seriously though, this series is great. Mainly because of the yuri, I won't lie about that, but also simply because of the two main characters who are like a trademark for yuri now. Chikane and Himeko. You must've at least seen a pic of them once online, even if you weren't specifically searching for it.

While the manga takes a more agressive aproach to the love between these two (unwanted penetration with a katana scabbard ensues), the anime is also undoubtedly one of the best out there of its genre. Action and a lot of drama enter the stage to drive them apart, but as we all know, love ultimately conquers all.

Karin (2005)
She was one of the, if not THE first, vampires to exist in an anime high school setting. She was already here before Rosario to Vampire or Vampire Knight got cool. Kinda like the original vampire VS. emo, sparkly teenager and good ol' wolfman VS. simple wolfs on steroids. What's up with that?

Love Hina (2000)
When I first heard Love Hina's intro, I thought my speakers were broken. Luckily, the story isn't. It's got the acient harem formula. Guy goes to an inn to live there and meanwhile lies about his academic accomplishments. I have great memories about this one, mainly because I was introduced to Horie Yui for the first time. My ears liked that!

"I am Gandamu!"

Cool series. I chose this one out of all the other gundam series simply because I could connect to this one more, if that makes sense. Besides the weird names and awkward posing, it managed pretty well to entertain me.

I understand Setsuna being his code name, but why the F. Seiei? Did Soran Ibrahim sound too terrorist?

My god, the first gender-bender I ever saw and I was simply delighted by all the goodness! I didn't even knew that was possible! Hopefully a good gender-bender like this one will come out again one day (girl to guy).

Zha Papah. Commonly known as 'The Paper'.

Interesting series where paper users can manipulate, you guessed it; paper.

One word; Suigintou. It's almost as if she invented the Lolita style. Then again, this whole series is wrapped in it. When it's all about dolls, curly hair and drinking cups of tea with your little finger raised, the protagonist Jun seems a bit out of place. Only a little bit.

Who do you call when you want some pepperoni?

I used to pretend I was a Samurai Pizza Cat when I was on the playground. Going through the slides and whatnot.
Snowwy's rating:
What was with the strange order of the episodes? Anyhow, I started watching it when it already finished airing, so thankfully I could see it in the 'proper' order. This series gave birth to one of the most eccentric anime characters today, Haruhi, and also brought her seiyuu; Hirano Aya, to great heights.

My goodness, Kuroko. You could climb into my bed anytime, but I digress.

This spin-off doesn't disappoint. Everything is just solid and I actually thought it was better than the original. There is great fanservice (the kind I like) and action is certainly present in pleasant quantities. Also, yuri.
