Mona Lisa Smile (2003)

Back in the day women were housewives. If they weren't, they were kids growing up to be one. Like a task, something they absolutely had to do because they were women. They had to take care of their husband and child(ren). We know better today and this movie shows different people back in the day who probably did too.

American History X (1998)

Racism, still a recurring problem today, but it's never too late to try and look at things with new eyes.
Snowwy's rating:

Seven Years in Tibet (1997)

The compassion in this movie, regardless of the obvious presence of violence, is persisting throughout all of it, which is very inspirational indeed. It showed me how to treat other people and how not to.
Snowwy's rating:

Good Will Hunting (1997)

'Never judge a book on its cover' Sure, we already knew that, but this movie takes it a bit farther and does it well.
Snowwy's rating:

Seven Pounds (2008)

This movie was so beautiful and inspiring, it made me think about all the people in the world who are in the same position as the people in the movie. Because of this movie I decided to be an organ donor.
Snowwy's rating:

Schindler's List (1993)

Ah, movies about the holocaust. Regrettably it really did happen. The speeches and whatever fragment left of Hitler and his followers showed us just how insane and evil they can be. This movie captures that insanity very well.
Snowwy's rating:

Contact (1997)

A very realistic 'what if' scenario. What if we really did
came into contact with other species from outer space? What would we do? Certainly not build a space ship by borrowing their technology because they are suddenly so trusting and generous, but it still makes you think.
Snowwy's rating:

Die Päpstin (2009)

A female pope? Hell yeah! They say it really did happen in the past by mistaken a girl for a boy who slowly climbed the ladder to glory and became pope. Who knows?
Snowwy's rating:

G.I. Jane (1997)

Who says only guys can do pull ups? It's was a big issue and taboo when a woman had an athletic physique, but nowadays it's considered healthy and empowering. Confidence is sexy.
Snowwy's rating:

These movies inspired me, but some also changed my perspective on certain things. These are some of the movies that made me think after watching it for some time.
