It's more surrealist than horror, but the Cronenberg typewriter-insects in Naked Lunch are marked in my memory.

Day 2: One of your earliest encounters with the horror genre

I didn't watch a lot of horror films when I was young (in fact, I was frightened just to be in the horror section in videoclubs) but I remember I watched this one with friends. It may be my first intrusion in the genre.

Day 4 - A great horror movie doctor

Dr. Génessier in Les yeux sans visage, this man who wants to create a new face for his love, strongly disfigured by fire. Even if he has to kill someone to do so.

David Cronenberg. I love his esthetic, his psychanalytic approach of the horror and his particularly dark use of gore (and grotesque) images.

Bergman does horror. A must-see. The images are magnificent and somehow terryfing.

This man is crazy. It gave me shivers. This cold-blooded attitude, his obsession with his face, his look, his smile... I'm still shocked.

Animals getting sacrified, decapitated, dismembered... And after this, people getting sacrified, mutilated, decapitated, dismembered. Documentary-style. Rough.

I really loved this movie. Thérèse Raquin adapted in a korean vampire way. Strangely hypnotic, and beautiful images.

Day 15 - A great 80's horror movie

David Bowie, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve and zombies. Do I have to say more?

Day 16 - Great indie horror

A classic surrealistic horror movie, so unknown. Reminds me the Bergman esthetic. A kind of Alice in Wonderland, but with vampires.

Day 17 - Favorite horror franchise

Well, I don't really like horror franchises, but this one may be my favorite. It's a classic, after all.

Antichrist (2009)

Day 18 - A movie people hate that you love

At first I hated too. It moved me in a strange and bad feeling I wasn't able to understand. During the projection I became agressive and hateful. Then I realized it may be what Von Trier tried to do. Plus the images are magnificent.

But I won't be watching this again.

Day 19 - A movie that disappointed you

I really loved Martyrs, by the same director, and was expecting to see something in the same vein. That was not the case. I found it boring, long and vague.

I didn't see it coming. I was stunned. And then I rewatched it and was amazed to see how everything worked. I still watch it at least once a year.

I'm not even sure this was a twist. I hated this film from the beginning to the end.

The Shining (1980)

Day 22 - Best movie based on a book

Even if the adaptation is not faithful, I think this is one of my favorite "based on book" horror, precisely because Kubrick recaptured King's original novel and made it its own.

Each apparition of this woman made me scream.

Day 24 - A movie you expected to be bad, but enjoyed

I was not sure at the beginning, even if the girl at the video store told me that "this [was] something". I began to find it long, then the second part began and I stayed hooked to my place.

Day 25 - A franchise you don't like

I spend my time repeating I'm gonna watch this one day, but in fact I'm not sure I want to. Even though I watched a lot of trash and gore movies (and liked them, for the most part), this franchise doesn't really attract me.

Day 27 - Favorite or least favorite Stephen King movie

This isn't really a horror movie, but we recognize the Stephen King's touch, his humanity in his approach of the characters. Really touching.
