A History of Violence (2005)
Unflinchingly dark, unrelenting in its misery, and yet surprisingly hopeful, this examination of humanity, ponders about violent natures and the sins of your past, but provides no concrete or easy answers, to masterful results.

Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005)
A glorious film about great men taking a stand for what they think is right. If that doesn't inspire you nothing will.

Capote (2006)
A fascinating look into the psyche of Truman Capote, as he becomes too infatuated with murderers.

Crash (2005)
An odd film about modern bigotry told from several different viewpoints.

Red Eye (2005)
While not every single detail was thought out the best, this is an insanely intense thriller, benefiting from the lead performances of Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy, and the direction of Wes Craven.

Walk the Line (2005)
An earnest, fascinating and even entertaining look into the life of Johnny Cash. This is fueled by the two absolutely astonishing performances of Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
garfield2710's rating:

Hoodwinked! (2005) (2006)
It's a fun family film with some clever moments and sharp writing, but the animation isn't very good.
garfield2710's rating:

Oliver Twist (2005)
This is a much darker version of Oliver Twist than we're used to, but it does work.
garfield2710's rating:

The visuals look very nice and the side characters are great, but, while I don't hate Depp's portrayal, it doesn't really work.
garfield2710's rating:

Has some powerful scenes and some exciting moments, but the pacing is awful and the visuals are too flashy.
garfield2710's rating:

Madagascar (2005)
It's really funny and has memorable characters, but I didn't care for the climax.
garfield2710's rating:

Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)
Not bad. It has a great race at the end, and has some genuinely funny scenes.
garfield2710's rating:

Pooh's Heffalump Movie (2005)
I wasn't a huge fan of showing the heffalumps, but to be fair, it's cute and has some good scenes.
garfield2710's rating:

Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)
It doesn't have much focus, and takes a while to get going, but when it's funny, it's really funny.
garfield2710's rating:

Has a dull middle permeating a good beginning and end.
garfield2710's rating:

Racing Stripes (2005)
Stripes is such a pill that it's kind of hard to root for him.
garfield2710's rating:

Has some funny scenes, but I didn't believe the chemistry of the heroes and the plot was overly ludicrous.
garfield2710's rating:

Hostage (2005)
The film starts off fine and has an okay, if a bit too complicated plot, but as it goes on the film becomes so nasty and revels in it's unending brutality, that it's not any fun to watch.
garfield2710's rating:

Must Love Dogs (2005)
It's predictable, does nothing to separate it from other rom-coms, and isn't funny enough to warrant it's existence.
