Mushishi es un show que va a atraer a una multitud de gente por lo atípico que es, ni no es por nada, es una serie muy única que es difícil que pueda dársele equivalente alguno. Sin embargo, la serie posee muy poco aprecio por parte del fan promedio de anime, el cual termina por ser ahuyentado por su densidad y modestia sin nada de acción desenfrenada o fanservice. Aun así logró tener un sequito de fans que la consideran material de top 10, generalmente conformados por los que les gustan las obras atípicas, la atmosfera o el sentimentalismo.
