This series was a life-changer! Not only a new genre, not only a paradigm shift in comedic writing and situation exploitation, but a complete and utter life-changer. The world can never go back to its pre-M'A'S'H state (unmashed - or just plain boiled) ( and the cast will never be that young again ). Alan Alda was, of course, the fabric (or canvas) that held this whole presentation together (but e... read more

Description: M*A*S*H is an American television series developed by Larry Gelbart, adapted from the 1970 feature film MASH (which was itself based on the 1968 novel MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors, by Richard Hooker). The series was produced in association with 20th Century Fox Television for CBS, which follows a team of doctors and support staff stationed at the "4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital" in Uijeongbu, South Korea during the Korean War. The show's title sequence features an instrumental version of "Suicide Is Painless", the theme song from the original film. The show was created after an attempt to film ... (more)

TV Shows That Should Get A Reboot (15 tv items)

"I'd like to see someone do a M*A*S*H series set during modern wartimes. A comedy that centers around a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital while occasionally touching more recent political issues like equal rights and the new president."

Top Korean War Movies (11 movies items)

"A black comedy about surgeons working for the U.S Army during the Korean War. I think it's fair to say that this is a product of its time, but also a classic. For me being born in 1990 I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped, maybe in 1970 I would have been in a different mindset to understand the context of the humour some more. "

Best Finales in TV History (11 tv items)

"Goodbye, Farewell and Amen The most watched series finale of all time, a feat unlikely to be repeated given our increasingly divided TV fanbase. M*A*S*H* explored the consequences the Korean War had on the protagonists, and as the war concludes, the 4407th is disbanded and Hawkeye is transferred to a hospital in a more peaceful area, where he can get to know his patients without the pressure of war."
