“To be honest, even though I have seen almost all the instalments, I have actually never been a huge fan of this franchise. However, since this movie was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out anyway and I have to admit that I was first slightly intrigued. Indeed, Chris Rock was apparently a fan of the franchise and he was the one who actually pitched the idea to Lionsgate. He also managed to even get Samuel L. Jackson on board so, at least, there was for once some star power involved this time around. Well, even though it was nice to see Chris Rock for the first time in a horror feature, unfortunately, I didn’t care much for the damned thing after all though. " Date: 9/22/2021 Viewed: Blu-Ray First Viewing Note: I decided to rent the newest Saw movie from my local Red Box because the trailer for it looks interesting. I'm hardly the biggest Saw fan, but I don't mind watching these movies from time to time. To be honest, I thought this film was alright. Spiral: From the Book of Saw is better than the later Saw movie sequels, but that's not a high bar in my opinion. I like that Spiral feels like a theatrical movie and not a long episode of CSI for on"
" First Viewing Viewing Date: October 3rd Via: iTunes Store Plot: A Jigsaw copycat begins murdering police officers through grisly games, and appears to have a special interest in Detective Zeke Banks. Rating: 5.4/10"
" Cinema- 1hr. 33min. First Viewing I have never seen a Saw film. I've seen pieces on TV before, but I've never sought them out. I'm not the biggest fan of "torture porn" or mutilation in film, especially when those films revel in it. That said, Spiral appeared to be something a bit different; a new spin on an old format. Plus, I'm looking for excuses to take in a matinee since the pandemic has eased up. I wasn't expecting anything, and I'll be honest; it had me... for the first two acts. It's al"
"I love when Saw-movies go a bit off the beaten path so I was surprised to find myself as bummed out about Spiral as I was. Chris Rock being a fan of this series shows, which could be great, but in fact kind of sucks, because his super serious performance as an angry cop is weirdly off-kilter with like half the time he's on screen being giddy about being in a Saw-movie. "Play the game, before it plays you. After all, what is blood if it’s not something to be shed?"
