Spring 2021 Viewings (29 movies items)"Format: Streaming Viewing: 1st Thoughts: Solid sci-fi actioner that teeters on the violent side thanks to director Tommy Wirkola, known for his Dead Snow series. So that kind of puts it in the Paul Verhoeven territory of sci-fi flicks (gratuitous violence, check. gratuitous sex scene, check). “I wasn't really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Noomi Rapace and since this movie was available on Netflix, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, even though the concept definitely had some potential, to be honest, the damned thing still turned out to be rather disappointing after all. The first thing that bothered me was this idea of forcing people to have only 1 child and considering as a solution. I mean, even without such a law, most Western countries are nowadays already struggling with the ageing of their population and, as a result, we have already not enough people working to support all the elders. Movies the giraffe watched in 2018: January (26 movies items)"First viewing - Jan. 1st I kicked off the new year with this little action/sci-fi number starring Noomi Rapace as seven sisters in a future where families aren't allowed to have more than one child. She's so excellent throughout that she makes the film worth watching, & once again reinforces my belief she should be making more action movies. The plot is a little predictable at times, but it moves along at a pace where it's not a big issue. I thought this was well worth checking out."
