A sharp, darkly comic fable with exemplary acting
“The Banshees of Inisherin is the long-awaited reunion of In Bruges writer-director Martin McDonagh with actors Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, but this is a vastly different movie than their earlier collaboration. Both films are morality tales with solemn philosophical themes, but whereas In Bruges was a fast-paced black comedy with a touch of action, The Banshees of Inisherin is downbeat and dialogue-driven, supplementing the pitch-black hilarity with strong melancholy and despondency. After the momentous critical and commercial success of 2017's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which also earned Academy Award recognition, it is encouraging to see McDonagh avoid the temptation of pursuing big-budget blockbusters or superhero movies, instead sticking with a modest budget and h” read more
" Director: Martin McDonagh His 4th Movie My 4th movie watched from the director A movie about nice people and not nice people. Nice people doing not-so-nice things and not nice people doing nice things. It's about friendship, sibling relationships, loneliness, love for a friend, love for a pet, love of a good pint. It's about music, lack of music, leaving a legacy, going mad and making it known, going mad and not realizing it. It's about abuse of power, abuse of time, and abuse of kindne"

" Notes: Martin McDonagh had a rather spotless track-record so far but it was easily his best most gorgeous movie so far. Indeed, the action was taking place on some remote island on the coast of Ireland and McDonagh definitely made the most of this beautiful place. On top of that, the cast all gave some really top-notch performances (Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan). My appreciation also had to do with the fact that I understood the point of view of both men. Indeed,"

“To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since it had been very well received, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, Martin McDonagh had a rather spotless track-record but it was easily his most gorgeous movie so far. Indeed, the action was taking place on some remote island on the coast of Ireland and McDonagh definitely made the most of this beautiful location. On top of that, the whole cast gave some really top-notch performances (Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan). I was especially impressed by Keoghan who is slowly becoming one of the most interesting character actors at work nowadays. My appreciation also had to do with the fact that I understood the point of view of both men. Indeed, I was actually much younger than Colm, a” read more
