Although "The Cat and the Canary" isn't sure what it wants to be- a slapstick comedy, a whodunit, or a straight horror movie- intriguing characters and excellent performances from the cast keep this one fresh and charming.

"First viewing - Jan. 2nd Epix Now This was the final film I wanted to watch via Epix Now, added to their service on the first of the year. I needed to get it out of the way so I could drop the service before the end of my trial, which is why it leads my home viewings for the new year.
