A little gem of a movie that is enhanced by a strong performance from Geoffrey Rush as a exclusive art auctioneer. He has lived his life in a very methodical, clinical and fastidious fashion and has controlled everything that surrounds his life. Interesting movie. Nicely done visually, good directing and acting. However the story is something strange. It is natural and has some weirdness at the same time. I don't think I completely believed it. For me it was like a fairy tale - you know it is not true but you can't stop watching it.I doubt I would like to watch this picture again but it's definitely worth to look it once.<... read more

One of the best movies I've seen in a loooong time. Story did get old at one point, and I started wondering if there was a twist (yes there is, so keep watching). Good acting performances. Nice photography.A story centered on an eccentric art auctioneer and his infatuation with a reclusive heiress.

First Viewing While the plot does get pretty convoluted and it gets a bit more predictable as it goes on, The Best Offer nonetheless kept me hooked due to its calm pace, perfect handle on tone, and Geoffrey Rush's superb performance. The rest of the cast is solid too, but Rush carries the movie, with able help from the technical departments. The cinematography and production design are also great highlights.
