“Who green lit this to be made this way? I guess New Line figured if it could contain blood and gore it would succeed, but even that is lackluster here.
There is 25 to 30 years worth of Mortal Kombat games and backstories to choose from and yet they introduce a brand new character named Cole who adds nothing to the film other than figuring out he can grow a poor man's version of Aquamans top.
The plot is weak. Shang T-Sung is killing off those who will fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament for Earth.... and we get no tournament??? Really?
The introduction to these characters is bad, and the villains are introduced so badly they belong in Mortal Kombat: Anhilation. Yes. Its that Bad! Shang T-Sung literally says each of his henchman names so the audience knows wh” read more

" The second attempt to adapt the video game of the same name into a major motion picture franchise, 2021's Mortal Kombat is a flawed victory...but it's a victory all the same. From a storytelling perspective, this is a pretty poor movie, but at least it commits to the overt ridiculousness of the concept and narrative. " HBO Max- 1hr. 50min. First Viewing Meh. 2021's Mortal Kombat is fine. There are a few okay fights and some fun, brutal kills, but little sticks. The script does nothing new, sticking to a self-serious tone that does the movie no favors (including another, in a long line, of bland, boring protagonist with family shit), and the direction doesn't go beyond the script's lead. The editing absolutely kills much of the film's momentum, sucking what should be the film's selling point, the fights, of th"
