This movie is completely mind fucking and seriously doesn't make any sense. Witch whose eyes turn red and can be defeated by water? WHAT? However it's extremely entertaining and one just can't stop watching it. When you get to the end you won't even be surprised anymore, because you will seriously be expecting anything and everything.

Compared to most Araki films, Kaboom is a pretty lightweight, but entertaining film. I have really become a Thomas Deller and Chris Zylka fan. They gave great performances.

After watching ‘White Bird in a Blizzard’ (which was pretty good) and ‘Smiley Face’ (which was pretty lame), I was quite eager to check the feature that Gregg Araki did direct between these 2 movies. Well, I really liked the way it started and the damned thing had seriously some potential. Indeed, it was one of the best depictions of college life I have seen in a very long time. Description: Indie veteran Gregg Araki returns to the spotlight with KABOOM, a hyper-stylized Twin Peaks for the Coachella Generation, featuring a gorgeous, super-hot young cast. The film is a wild, sex-drenched, comical thriller that tells the story of Smith, an ambisexual 18-year-old college freshman who stumbles upon a monstrous conspiracy in a seemingly idyllic Southern California seaside town. KABOOM will make its US premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival and is writer/director Araki's eighth film there since his breakthrough The Living End, including The Doom Generation to his masterpiece Mysterious Skin. The film stars Thomas ... (more)

" Date: 6/8/2022 Viewed: Amazon Prime First Viewing Note: I've been wanting to see this film for quite some time because I love Gregg Araki's work. After watching Stonewall (2015), I was looking for a good LGBTQ+ film to watch to get the bad taste out of my mouth. I had to rent the movie through Amazon Prime in order to see it. For whatever reason, they provided the film in SD rather than HD. It made it more difficult to watch because the movie didn't look great on my TV. It also made it more"

Well, I really liked the way it started and the damned thing had seriously some potential. Indeed, it was one of the best depictions of college life I have seen in a very long time. Furthermore, I loved Araki’s approach towards sexuality which was basically that almost no one is actually totally gay or hetero. Eventually, even though the characters were really promiscuous, it was never displayed as something really depraved or depressing like it was in ‘The Rules of Attraction’ for example and this approach was really refreshing. Unfortunately, even though this material was re” read more

Moviewatcher122's 2017 Film Diary: May (17 movies items)

"May 2 "Smith, college is just an intermission between high school and the rest of your life. It's four years of having sex, making stupid mistakes, and experiencing stuff. It's a pit stop, not the second coming of the Messiah." Gregg Araki sure is an interesting director, huh? He's one of those kinds of directors where everything I've seen from him so far was something I had completely different opinions on. I couldn't stand Smiley Face, I mostly hated The Doom Generation, but had a couple a"
