“Set against the economic battles and general anti-Japanese sentiment of the late-80s and early-90s, (even Die Hard briefly touched on it before the mayhem ensued), Black Rain and it's nearly-identical plot twin, Rising Sun, stirred the pot, using a veil of mystery surrounding Japanese culture as a plot mechanism, to push a pro-American point-of-view. Dated for it's plot and, given how much the world has opened in the digital age, it's interesting in the way we look at those buried time capsules after they're unearthed.” read more

" Two New York cops get involved in a gang war between members of the Yakuza, the Japanese Mafia. They arrest one of their killers and are ordered to escort him back to Japan. In Japan, however, he manages to escape. " "I'm about an uptown minute of throwing you an international incident that's gonna make your head spin. Until you sign off on this dickhead, his ass is mine." Written by Craig Bolotin and Warren Lewis Music by Hans Zimmer Cinematography by Jan de Bont Editing by Tom Rolf"

"8.2 R. Scott/Yhdysvallat Uusintakatselu Musta Sade toimii parhaiten, jos sitä katselee ääliÜ ulkomailla -tyyppisenä komediana, jonka huumori syntyy siitä, miten ääliÜmäiseltä ja tÜykeältä takatukkainen Michael Douglas vaikuttaa hyvätapaisten japanilaisten keskellä. Douglas tuntuu kanavoivan sisäistä Mel Gibsoniaan läpi elokuvan."

"4.5. Michael Douglasilla on vaihteeksi rankka päivä. Mies viilettää Pepe Willbergmäisessä letissä Japanissa. Siellä ihmetellään kulttuurieroja ja kiroillaan. Hyvin tyypillinen "kovaotteinen" 80-lukulainen kyttäelokuva tämä on, joskin ylipituus taisi hieman vaivata (jouduin keittämään kahvit kesken leffan). Perusasiat ovat kunnossa."
