Kevin Spacey is the genius behind this biographical gem of crooner Bobby Darin. Spacey wrote, directed and performed all the music in a movie that showcased more than just his talent, but truly revealed the life and struggles of Darin. Kate Bosworth plays a beautiful role as Sandra Dee.

"Beyond the sea" is somewhat surreal, it has no linear timeline, and things keep happening that wouldn't happen in real life (like people breaking into dance on the street), but I liked the approach. Back in the 90's, Kevin Spacey was definitely one of the best actors around and it's a shame that his career was not so impressive in the 2000's. Anyway, this movie seemed to be a dear project to Spacey since he produced it, wrote the screenplay, directed the whole thing and, finally, portrayed the lead character.
