Andrew Crocker-Harris is an embittered and disliked teacher of Greek and Latin at a British public school. After nearly 20 years of service, he is being forced to retire on the pretext of his health and perhaps may not even be given a pension. The boys regard him as a Hitler, with some justification. His wife Laura is unfaithful and lives to wound him any way she can. Andrew must come to terms with his failed life and try to regain at least his own self-respect. Then his life is changed after a surprise act of kindness by a pupil.

Defense of the Realm (1986)

Following a crash of a nuclear bomber at an American Air Force base in the English countryside, Dennis Markham, a prominent Member of Parliament and opponent of the American nuclear presence in the United Kingdom, is reported by a London newspaper to have been seen leaving a woman's home. When the woman is found to also be familiar with a dignitary from East Germany, Markham's loyalty to his country is questioned. He is hounded by the media and is forced to resign.
The author of the newspaper exposรฉ, Nick Mullen, continues his work with colleague Vernon Bayliss who suspects that Markham is being framed for his views. When Bayliss dies from a mysterious 'heart attack', Mullen suspects something deeper at work and finds evidence of a cover-up concerning a near-nuclear accident and a secret US Air Force base. With the help of Markham's secretary, Nina Beckman, Mullen continues to investigate the affair despite the attempts of the British Government to stop him.

By coincidence, Anne also finds herself conducting an affair with an Indian man and faces similar social prejudice.

A biography of Thomas Jefferson in the years before he became President. Jefferson is in Paris as the U.S. Ambassador to the court of Louis XVI. Following the death of his wife, the film charts Jefferson's friendships and flirtations with the French, his relationship with his daughters and his slaves from home - especially 15-year-old Sally Hemings - against the backdrop of the beginning of the French Revolution.

Slowly he begins to put the pieces back together but there are troubling memories that don't mesh with the stories he's being told and he hires private detective Gus Klein to help unravel the mystery of his past.

On a January day in 1941, the Earl of Erroll, is found dead in his automobile in a remote location. The Earl has a royal pedigree but a somewhat sordid past and a well-deserved reputation for carrying on with other men's wives, including Lady Diana Broughton, the beautiful wife of Sir Jock Broughton, a man at least twice her age.
