"Pros: New York City setting... and, uh... familiar story (even though they get it all wrong!). I suppose it's not boring, either -- however, I wouldn't exactly call it "entertaining". Oh, and it's better than director Will Gluck's earlier film, 'Easy A' (ugh; see below), but so are 99.999999% of all the other movies that have ever been made. Cons: Everything else! Poorly acted (Cameron Diaz in particular makes a REALLY terrible Miss Hannigan); the songs are awful and only get worse as the movie"

“To be honest, since I didn’t care much for John Huston’s version and since this movie turned out to be a critical flop, I didn’t expect much from the damned thing but since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, I always thought it was actually a rather boring story and this modern version, except for giving some Hip-Hop versions of the famous songs and casting a black kid to play the lead, didn’t really improve the formula. At least, I have to admit that their version of ‘It’s A Hard-Knock Life’ was pretty cool but all the other songs were rather weak.
