Robert De Niro is himself, in typical mobster fashion, but this is a comedy, and De Niro far surpasses his counterpart Billy Crystal to overtake the film.

To be honest, it has been a while since I saw this movie and maybe I should rewatch it at some point. Still, I remember it very well when this one was released. Indeed, back then, everyone, including myself, praised Robert De Niro for trying something so drastically different than his usual work. " When Paul Vitti needs help dealing with his role in the "family," unlucky shrink Dr. Ben Sobel is given just days to resolve Vitti's emotional crisis and turn him into a happy, well adjusted gangster. Interestingly, The Sopranos were on the air before hand, and Analyze This could be seen as the comedic version of this. Critics felt it was enjoyable, and liked Robert DeNiro’s performance and his chemistry with Billy Crystal. There was a sequel, a few years later that did just ok."
