Tomatometer Guess: 20%. It says quite a lot about how much the Madea franchise has overstayed its welcome when even Tyler Perry himself wants to end it.
How many laughs (or lack thereof) will he evoke during his last time putting on that ridiculous wig? We'll find out soon enough.
Actual Score: 13%.

Captain Marvel (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 82%. The Penultimate entry in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Brie Larson as the eponymous hero in a semi-prequel set the late 90s.
Actual Score: 79%. Captain Marvel is a solid, entertaining, and enjoyable (if somewhat uneven and slightly unremarkable) entry in the MCU.

JWR's rating:

Us (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 92%. All eyes are on Jordan Peele's sophomore directorial effort to find out whether Get Out was a fluke or if Peele could make a name for himself as the next Wes Craven.
Actual Score: 94%. "Us" proves that Jordan Peele is anything but a one-trick pony. It's suspenseful, brutal, well-acted, and full of twists and turns that make it the horror movie to beat this year.

Dumbo (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 71%. After the immense success of their other live-action remakes, it was inevitable that they would get to this one.
Actual Score: 50%.

JWR's rating:

Shazam! (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 88%. It's "Big" with Superheroes. What's not to like?
Actual Score: 90%. Shazam is quite simply the best DCEU film and easily the best DC film since "The Dark Knight Rises". It's exciting, hilarious, emotional, and heartfelt.

JWR's rating:

Pet Sematary (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 83%. Will this remake of the 1989 adaptation of Stephen King's work find success on the level of It (2017)?
Actual Score: 59%. Pet Sematary is competent, but derivative remake of the 1989 original and features some jarring plot points.

JWR's rating:

Hellboy (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 45%.
Actual Score: 15%. Hellboy (2019) is an ugly, juvenile, and hollow mess of a film that lacks the charm, heart, and soul of the Del Toro films. The pacing is dizzying, the special effects look cheap for a big budget, and the R-rated violence and language feels tacked on and childish.
David Harbour does the best he can with the material, but he's given nothing to work with. The script jumps around from one poorly edited action scene to the next with no cohesion, making for a very dull moviegoing experience.

Missing Link (1988)
Tomatometer Guess: 81%.
NOTE: This is for the 2019 Laika film.
Actual Score: 89%. Missing Link (2019) is another home run for Laika. It's funny, emotional, beautifully animated, and thought-provoking.

JWR's rating:

Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 86%. This is it. Closing out April (and beginning Summer) is Avengers: Endgame, the final installment of Phase 3 and the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we've known it. The culmination of over 10 years of build-up. Expectations are sky high but if Infinity War taught us anything, it's that Marvel almost always delivers.
Actual Score: 94%. Wow... just wow. Not only does Avengers: Endgame live up to expectations, it exceeds them. It perfectly wraps up the first era of the MCU with great action, humor, and emotional weight. Every charavter is utilized effectively, there are callbacks to nearly every previous movie, and it sets up the future of the franchise very well too.
See it now (assuming you haven't already).

It appears that the Summer really is arriving earlier and earlier each year. Because March and April are packed with several hotly anticipated releases such as Jordan Peele's Us, Captain Marvel, Shazam, and Avengers Endgame.
I'm here to predict how these movies will be received and later see how wrong or right I really was.
