Long Shot (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 78%. From the creators of "Knocked Up" and "Neighbors", it's Long Shot, which describes itself as "Pretty Woman", only with Seth Rogen as Julia Roberts and Charlize Theron as Richard Gere.
Actual Score: 85%. Long Shot is an energetic, layered, and charming comedy carried by the amazing chemistry between Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron.

UglyDolls (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 39%. Based on a line of plush toys by the same name, UglyDolls is sure to make a profit and win over family audiences... or at least it would've been if it wasn't saddled in between Avengers: Endgame and Detective Pikachu.
Actual Score: 30%. UglyDolls is a well-meaning but formulaic and cookie-cutter children's film that will entertain only the least-demanding of moviegoers. There's nothing about it that stands out or makes it unique, but it's harmless enough.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 81%. If you had told me (a non-Pokemon fan) that I'd end up being excited about a live-action Pokemon movie with Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu, I'd say you were crazy. Yet, here we are. Will this be the movie that FINALLY breaks the video game movie curse?
Actual Score: 65%. Pokemon Detective Pikachu is uneven but agreeably entertaining and emotional enough to appeal to fans and non-fans alike.

JWR's rating:

Tomatometer Guess: 93%. The best non-superhero action movie franchise reaches its epic conclusion with the needlessly overtitled John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.
Actual Score: 90%. Despite the plot being a bit too convoluted, "John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum" is an immensely entertaining entry in the series, featuring even more of the high-octane thrills and beautiful cinematography of the first two.

Aladdin (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 49%. Because we keep giving them our money, Disney continues its recent trend of live-action remakes with Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie.
Actual Score: 56%.

JWR's rating:

Brightburn (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 77%. This James Gunn-produced horror film takes the premise of a superhero origin story and turns it into a horror film.
Actual Score: 56%. Brightburn is an entertaining, if uneven horror film that delivers on its premise.
Actual Score: 56%. Brightburn is an entertaining, if uneven horror film that delivers on its premise.
JWR's rating:

Tomatometer Guess: 78%. While somewhat polarizing, 2014's Godzilla revived the iconic monster and helped wash out the bad taste of Roland Emmerich's 1998 film. With a new director and new cast featuring Stranger Things' Millie Bobbie Brown, "King of The Monsters" appears to be addressing the biggest issue people had with the 2014 film, the lack of action.
Actual Score: 39%. While not as restrained or thoughtful as the 2014 film, King of the Monsters delivers in terms of spectacle and action.
Will this translate to it being a better film? We'll find out soon enough.

JWR's rating:

Ma (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 80%. While most of Tate Taylor's films are either biographical or period pieces, he appears to be stepping out of his comfort zone with "Ma". Will his willingness to experiment pay off?
Actual Score: 61%.

JWR's rating:

Rocketman (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 70%. Taron Egerton stars as Elton John in the upcoming biopic, "Rocketman".
Actual Score: 91%. Rocketman is absolutely amazing. It's energetic, emotional, and has the best performance of Taron Egerton's career as Elton John. A must-watch for sure.

JWR's rating:

Dark Phoenix (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 73%. In any other circumstance, the final Fox X-Men movie would be a major event. However, the film has been met with apathy in the wake of the series inevitably being rebooted after the Disney Fox merger, numerous delays, and bad press.
Will the final product sore above the bad buzz or will the franchise end by bursting into flames?
Actual Score: 23%. "Dark Phoenix" is a muddled, convoluted, rushed, and unsatisfactory conclusion to the Fox X-Men series. The cast does their best, but they all feel completely apathetic towards the lacking material they're given to work with (Especially in the case of Jennifer Lawrence), the villains are an afterthought, Magneto is shoehorned into the movie, the direction from Simon Kinberg feels ill-equipped to handle the scope of the story, and the third act is where the movie falls apart altogether.
If this is how the Fox X-Men series ends, then frankly, the MCU reboot can't come soon enough.

Tomatometer Guess: 71%. Given the massive success of the first film, a sequel was inevitable, and with the (at the time of posting this) scandal-free Patton Oswalt as the main lead, it's sure to be entertaining, if slightly formulaic.
Actual Score: 57%. The Secret Life of Pets 2 is an uneventful and episodic, but mostly harmless animated flick that will mildly entertain for 90 minutes, and then fade from your memory soon after.

Men in Black: International (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 64%. I guess people at Sony saw "Thor: Ragnarok" and thought, "Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson have excellent chemistry, let's put them in another movie together", and we thank them for it because this movie looks like it will be worth watching if only for their presence.

Toy Story 4 (2019)
Tomatometer Guess: 92%. Rather fitting that Pixar begins the decade with a Toy Story film and then ends it with one as well.
Actual Guess: 98%. Toy Story 4 is beautifully animated, amazingly well-written, funny, and a very emotional conclusion to the series.
