January to February 2017 Tomatometer Predictions

Sort by: Showing 22 items
Decade: Rating: List Type:
People who added this item 462 Average listal rating (312 ratings) 7.2 IMDB Rating 7.8
Tomatometer Guess: 75%.

Actual Score: 92%. Hidden Figures wonderfully sheds light on an overlooked part of history. The acting from the entire cast is solid. All three main leads are likable and empathetic (Kevin Costner is also great), the story is fascinating, and though it's a smidge paint by numbers, the film as a whole is a feel-good experience that will make you appreciate the true story more.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 218 Average listal rating (151 ratings) 5.7 IMDB Rating 5.8
Tomatometer Guess: 6%. Based on early reviews, the fifth installment of this supernatural film series looks dead on arrival.

Actual Score: 13%.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 340 Average listal rating (219 ratings) 7.3 IMDB Rating 7.4
Tomatometer Guess: 70%.

Actual Score: 86%. It's not exactly a movie you'll want to watch over and over again, but A Monster Calls is a well-acted and touching film that pulls no punches when it comes to its subject material without ever feeling manipulative or sappy.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 74 Average listal rating (54 ratings) 4.8 IMDB Rating 5.6
Tomatometer Guess: 30%.

Actual Score: 18%. Average, but mildly entertaining and competent action movie.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 144 Average listal rating (83 ratings) 5.9 IMDB Rating 6.4
Live by Night (2017)
Tomatometer Guess: 36%.

Actual Score: 33%. Live By Night offers Great production values, stunning cinematography, and several intense action scenes, but the acting is surprisingly hit and miss, the main character is uninteresting, and the movie sort of falls apart at the end. A disappointment, but not a completely irredeemable film.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 101 Average listal rating (73 ratings) 3.5 IMDB Rating 4.2
Tomatometer Guess: 10%.

Actual Score: 24%. Let's cut to the case, The Bye Bye Man is awful in every aspect (acting, writing, realism, scares). But it's so awful at times, that it becomes unintentionally funny. Unless you want a cheap laugh, don't bother with this.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 55 Average listal rating (38 ratings) 4.8 IMDB Rating 5.6
Tomatometer Guess: 56%.

Actual Score: 29%. If you have really young kids, they're probably going to love the hell out of this movie, if you're above the age of 7, you'll probably find to be uninteresting and dull. Paramount Pictures essentially spent $115 Million on a 90 minute toy commercial.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 280 Average listal rating (159 ratings) 5.1 IMDB Rating 5.2
Tomatometer Guess: 20%. Vin Diesel returns in this sequel to the 2002 sleeper hit, xXx. Will it prove to be a fun time at the movies, or will it be an Extreme dud?

Actual Score: 41%.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 845 Average listal rating (614 ratings) 6.7 IMDB Rating 7.3
Tomatometer Guess: 80%. After breaking his mediocrity streak with 2015's The Visit, M. Night Shyamalan returns with this psychological thriller starring James McAvoy.

Actual Score: 78%. Split is yet another solid and tense thriller in the classic style of M. Night Shyamalan. Though the plot is a bit silly, James McAvoy absolutely sells it with his portrayal of each personality, managing to evoke both sympathy and fear the character.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 308 Average listal rating (211 ratings) 6.9 IMDB Rating 7.2
Tomatometer Guess: 78%. Michael Keaton stars in this biopic about the popular founder of McDonalds.

Actual Score: 82%. Michael Keaton is brilliant as Ray Croc, the founder of McDonald's in this well written and well paced biopic.
JWR's rating:
Tomatometer Guess: 17%. The movie series loosely based on the popular video games reaches its conclusion in its sixth installment. And by "conclusion", they probably mean take a 5-year hiatus and reboot.

Actual Score: 43%. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has all of the mindless action, thin story, and loose tie-ins to the games as the previous films. If you liked the last five, you'll like this. If you haven't, this won't change your mind.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 125 Average listal rating (77 ratings) 6.1 IMDB Rating 6.7
Gold (2016)
Tomatometer Guess: 70%.

Actual Score: 34%.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 135 Average listal rating (84 ratings) 5.5 IMDB Rating 6.4
Tomatometer Guess: 40%.

Actual Score: 13%. The Space Between Us is an overly sentimental, sappy, and cheesy YA romance story that will do very little for anyone besides its intended audience.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 52 Average listal rating (30 ratings) 4.9 IMDB Rating 5.7
Collide (2016)
Tomatometer Guess: 36%.

Actual Score: 19%.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 230 Average listal rating (150 ratings) 3.7 IMDB Rating 4.6
Tomatometer Guess: 10%. The sequel to the movie adaptation of a glorified Twilight fanfiction looks like it has more of the things that made the first film "great".

Actual Score: 8%. To nobody's shock, Fifty Shades Darker is every bit as awful and soul-crushing its predecessor.

All of the hallmarks of the series are back, including terrible acting, cringeworthy dialogue, loathsome characters, cheesy soap opera tier writing, sex scenes that are awkward and laughable, and a love story that is in fact, WORSE than Twilight.

If you're already a fan of the material, then you've probably already seen it by now. If you're like me and hated the first one, stay as far away from this one as possible.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 476 Average listal rating (370 ratings) 6.8 IMDB Rating 7.3
Tomatometer Guess: 88%. Seeing as how Batman was one of the many highlights of The LEGO Movie and was already one of the most profitable fictional icons, it was no surprise to hear that he would be getting his own spin-off movie.

However, only time will tell if it had the same passion in heart put into its construction as the original.

Actual Score: 90%. The LEGO Batman Movie is a blast! The animation is vibrant and colorful, the jokes and visual gags are gut-busting funny and rapid fire. There are tons of references to the comics and previous movies (The writers of this movie show that they understand the character of Batman inside and out), and the movie is full of heart that gives it depth.

If you are a fan of LEGOs, Batman, comic books, or animation in general, you owe it to yourself to see this movie as soon as you can.
JWR's rating:
Tomatometer Guess: 81%. Keanu Reeves returns as the eponymous hitman in this sequel to the 2014 sleeper hit.

Actual Score: 90%. John Wick: Chapter 2 is just as exciting, action packed, and satisfying as the first film. Check it out as soon as possible.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 264 Average listal rating (180 ratings) 6.1 IMDB Rating 6.4
Tomatometer Guess: 78%. Director Gore Verbinski returns to the horror genre with this psychological thriller.

Actual Score: 40%. A Cure For Wellness is a movie I admire more for its ideas willingness to take risks than i do for the execution of those ideas.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 275 Average listal rating (202 ratings) 5.3 IMDB Rating 5.9
Tomatometer Guess: 30%.

Actual Score: 35%. Questionable casting aside, The Great Wall is a forgettable fantasy movie with great cinematography and entertaining battle sequences sporadically placed in it.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 105 Average listal rating (69 ratings) 5 IMDB Rating 5.6
Fist Fight (2017)
Tomatometer Guess: 39%.

Actual Score: 31%.
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 870 Average listal rating (657 ratings) 7.3 IMDB Rating 7.7
Tomatometer Guess: 73%. Comedian Jordan Peele makes his unexpected, but promising directorial debut with this horror thriller.

Actual Score: 100%. Get Out is a not only very good horror movie, it's also surprisingly funny and a very impressive directorial debut from Jordan Peele. Go Check it Out!
JWR's rating:
People who added this item 36 Average listal rating (28 ratings) 4.8 IMDB Rating 5.9
