Matt Damon, who burst onto the scene by winning an Oscar for the screenplay of his 1997 drama "Good Will Hunting," is still as hot as ever! But now that he's 42, the father of four girls between the ages of 2 and 14 is looking — how can we put this delicately? — more mature, thanks to his graying hair. "I point out all of the gray and I say to my daughters, 'You did this and you did this and you did this,'" he recently joked to People. "They really think it's funny."
Damon's BFF Ben Affleck, 40, is also not bothering to cover up the gray. The "Argo" actor debuted a salt-and-pepper hairstyle and beard in 2010, the same year that "The Town," the second movie he's directed, hit theaters — a fact that's not lost on him. "It's there, it's present. I can acknowledge it!" Affleck said of his silvery strands while promoting the film. "I didn't have a single gray hair until I started directing movies. It gives you gray hair. That and my brother [actor Casey]."
With all his exotic vacations and the younger ladies on his arm, Hollywood A-lister George Clooney is glamorous and gorgeous — but he's also gray! The 51-year-old explained his choice to go au naturel in an interview with Playboy magazine. "You don't want to try to look younger because you'll look wrong," he said. "You dye your hair, you look wrong. You wear a bad toupee, you look wrong. You wear makeup to hide things, you get your eyes done, you look wrong." Clearly, Clooney's doing something right!
We've had a crush on Patrick Dempsey, 46, ever since he played the cute nerd in the 1987 teen movie "Can't Buy Me Love." Then, almost two decades later, he really got our hearts racing playing Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy." And when he started sporting some gray streaks in his wavy head of hair last year, he only made us swoon more!
Dempsey hasn't been the only TV doc heating up the ER! His former co-star Eric Dane, who was better known as "Grey's Antomy's" Mark "McSteamy" Sloan for several seasons, has been rocking a graying 'do for several years. Don't you think the 39-year-old's mane makes him look more sophisticated?
Brad Pitt, 48, has experimented with many looks over his 25-year career, including a few that show off the gray stubble in his beard. "One thing sucks," he said of aging, during a 2007 interview with Details magazine. "Your face kind of goes. Your body's not quite working the same. But you earned it. You earned that, things falling apart."
Colin Farrell, 36, has been rocking graying locks since his early 30s. The look makes him appear as more of a distinguished, dad-type than the movie bad boy he was early in his career. And that seems to be exactly where Farrell, the father of 3-year-old Henry and 9-year-old James, is at today, years after having traded booze and drugs for diapers. "Not knowing what ... I'm doing as a dad is huge," Farrell tells the new issue of Details. "I don't know what I'm doing, and that's a very liberating thing."
John Slattery looks so sexy with his full head of white hair that he's known as "Med Men's" resident silver fox! Just don't call the 50-year-old that to his face. As he revealed to Vanity Fair, it's not a term for which he has a lot of affection. "I hate Silver Fox. I absolutely hate it," Slattery said in a 2009 interview. "It just sounds so ... [shudders] ... so slimy and embarrassing."
The 45-year-old former "Friends" actor is looking pretty good these days thanks in part to his salt-and-pepper locks. As LeBlanc explained in 2010, the change had nothing to do with style. "I dyed my hair the whole time on 'Friends,'" he revealed at a Television Critics Association event in Beverly Hills. "[And] I just was sick of doing it." It's probably a good thing that he waited, since we can't imagine a wise-looking Joey Tribbiani!
Anderson Cooper, 45, who's the host of his own CNN show and syndicated daytime talk show, started going gray at age 20, but notes it hasn't exactly hurt his career. "In the TV news business, gray equals gravitas," he wrote in a 2003 issue of Details. "In fact, in just about any line of work being prematurely gray is an advantage. On a guy, gray hair says, 'I'm mature, stable. I can be relied on.'"
Who says you have to hide graying hair? Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Patrick Dempsey are just a few of the hot celebs who have gone gracefully gray.
