Since it's October I figured I'd recommend horror, so here we go
Recommendations for October:
[REC]3: Genesis - www.listal.com/movie/101767
You don't actually need to watch 1 or 2 to get this movie, as it has fairly little connection to the two, instead being sort of a spin-off. Delightfully the idea of it being found footage is thrown out the window at around fifteen minutes in a fashion that is so overtly dramatic I fell in love with it. Otherwise it's a perfectly decent zombie flick.
The Collection - www.listal.com/movie/the-collection-2012
Another sequel that doesn't really require you to watch the original. In this case you might want to though, because it's actually a pretty good movie too. However what it is not is pure insanity, which is what The Collection is. This is just so bat fuck insane in terms of ludicrous gory traps that I can't see how anyone, literally anyone could have a bad time with it. It's the gore traps from Saw taken to the utmost maximum extreme they can be taken to and done in a lovely tongue-in-cheek fashion. Loved it and thinking about raising it's rating all the damn time.

Room 237
Funniest comedy of the year. Hands down.

List updated! And I threw my support behind The Ice Harvest and Slacker.

Recs for October:
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. Some lighthearted Halloween fun
The Posession of David O'Reilly. Scary WTF film I was really impressed with
Throwing my support behind:
The Wolf Man
The Serpent and the Rainbow
And an addition to the movies to watch for October, The Bothersome Man/Norway of Life/Den Brysomme Mannen (the title keeps changing on Listal) is not quite horror but a very gory dark comedy that would fit pretty well with the scary theme this month.

Updated again. And I've added The Bothersome Man to my IQ, but we'll see whether I watch it this month.

Since I'm working on my Netflix Horrorthon and due to my lack of knowledge of good horror films that have ratings under 300, I haven't been able to participate in this month's Instant Project until now. However, since there is films here I plan to watch in my Horrorthon. I decided I might as well do it now. So, here's my contribution this month so far.
Recommendations for October:
Creepshow 2- Not the greatest sequel ever and I think the first one is superior. However, it is still an enjoyably decent horror anthology that is supposed a fun film to watch once.
The Invisible Man- an underappreciated horror classic made during the beloved Universal Studios horror monster run that features an astounding performance from Claude Rains as the titular character that is on par with the other classic performances.

The Wolf Man
Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Creepshow 2
The first is pretty much the best of those overrated Universal monster movies along with Frankenstein, and Creepshow 2 is just so friggin' stupid. The first story sucks, but everything after is cool.

Recommendation for November:
Maniac - www.listal.com/movie/maniac-2013
The Maniac-remake is the best horror film of the year. You should watch it. Does to horror what Drive did to car-action.
VHS 2 - www.listal.com/movie/vhs2
So unlike the first VHS, this isn't a 100% of solid material, but the third short is on a level of quality beyond any anthology horror I've ever seen and will have you jumping out your seat in gleeful joy.

The Call of Cthulhu
List is updated.

I'll recommend both of Giraffes selections. Bay of Blood I've spouted praise over on occasion in the past. Call of Cthulhu, while failing to approach what it attempts to and occasionally coming off as rather boring, it's still an interesting curiosity and the claymation in the end is admirable.

Cool. Updated again. :)

Recommendations for November:
The Mummy's Hand
An underrated film from the original Universal Horror lineup. It is more adventure and comedy driven compared to the other more well-known films from that time but it still very entertaining. I prefer it to the original Mummy film.
Throwing my support behind:
John Dies At The End
I have three films left for my Horrorthon that I'll try to get done by early November and this was one of the three that I missed out on. So, I decided to support it now.

Recommendations for November:
Joe
Made during the height of the Hippie Movement, Joe shows the parent/blue-collar perspective on these acts which shows how dirty, selfish, and ungrateful these people had been. It starts out slow and is kind of dated but well portrays a rather interesting morality and character piece that is definitely worth a watch.

And I see Batman: The Movie is leaving Dec. 1st, if anyone wants to catch it. Unsure at the moment if there are others.

So, unsure about this one, but when I was browsing my queue on my TV last night it claimed The Brother from Another Planet leaves Oct. 20th. When I pull the film up on Netflix there's nothing backing that up. So it could be an error, but just in case it IS disappearing I thought I'd mention it for anyone interested.

Recommendations for December:
Truck Turner - www.listal.com/movie/truck-turner-1974
This is the best blaxploitation-film. It's utterly hilarious, immoral, action-packed and full of pimps and hustlas. Isaac Hayes is astonishing.
Targets - www.listal.com/movie/targets
I haven't actually seen this film in ages. It's Bogdanovich's best work and the best role in Karloff's career. One of the most overlooked films of all time probably.

Off now to update the list. And for the record I don't plan to participate in watching any recommendations this month. December will be spent focusing mainly on the DVDs sitting in my home, though I suppose if something awesome leaves Netflix I'll attempt to give it a look before it's gone.
