Don't Look Now - www.listal.com/movie/dont-look-now
Kinda scimping by the 300 rating rule but it just makes it. One of the best horror films from the 70s with a uniquely unnerving ending. Also has the best sex scene in film history.
Bachelorette - www.listal.com/movie/bachelorette
Surprisingly smart "romantic comedy" with well written and fleshed out characters.
@The Giraffe looking at the titles I was THIS close to calling BS on Dream Home but thank goodness it was not the Daniel Craig-atrocity.

@VT - Haha, nope I haven't seen that one & have been avoiding it due to all the negative feedback I've seen for it. Think you might dig this Dream Home though. And glad you recommended Don't Look Now which I tried to watch before but wasn't in the right mood for & then it left Instant for a while. Didn't know it was back.

Hi all
I'm a new listal user. I only discovered this post tonight and i think it's a great idea, in which i'd love to participate, even though I don't have access to Netflix where i live. Concerning the 2 recos i just made, i went to instantwatcher.com to check that they're available on Netflix. I also checked in the project's list that they hadn't been recommended before. I hope it's alright.
Now, i could've waited until August to make my first recos, but when i saw that The Man from Earth was currently available, i didn't want to take a chance of missing it. So I urge all of you who haven't seen it yet, to watch it as soon as you can (i'm actually surprised that the movie doesn't yet have 300 ratings on Listal).
Hope you enjoy and thanks for all your recos!

@the giraffe: thx for all the effort you put in. This project's list is one of the most interesting lists i've seen so far, full of hidden little gems. I will definitely be checkin the ones i haven't seen yet. Also with this thread, i get to discover a lot of cool listal users. Cheers to all!

Going ahead & throwing down my recs for August since I'm done watching movies for July.
Recommendations for August:
Killing Zoe
The Odd Couple
Two very different films, both of which I'm surprised more people haven't seen.

Recommendations for August:
The Bay - www.listal.com/movie/the-bay
Barry Levinson, director of movies such as Rain Man and Sleepers, takes on the found footage horror genre and does so in a pretty darn uncanny and creepy way. It's a really good example of all the things, good and bad, in the subgenre.
Elfie Hopkins: Cannibal Hunter - www.listal.com/movie/elfie-hopkins
So here's my deal, I could recommend any number of weird shit on here that I loved. But for whatever reason, I think little Elfie Hopkins deserves a shot. It's a weird British indie-flick that is so quirky-smirky you'll be grinning throughout. Whether out of pain or pleasure, is up to how much you enjoy that stuff. I could imagine people who like crap like John Dies at the End oogling this movie like mad. It's weird, and fun, even though I didn't fall in love with it. It also turns real dark towards the end.

Oh, and my theatre of choice will be screening Withnail & I this month, so maybe I'll go watch it there instead of on Netflix.

Hi all
Recommendations for August:
The Hidden Face (aka La Cara Oculta)
Acolytes
2 great little thrillers (borderline horror), one from Spain/Colombia, the other from Australia. You should definitely give a shot at least to La Cara Oculta. I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. Enjoy!

Hello, I am here to give my own interesting recommendations for the Netflix Instant Project.
Recommendations for August:
Life Is Beautiful
Batman: The Movie
Recommendations for August:
Life Is Beautiful
Batman: The Movie

Welcome, Ricky49er! I've added Batman: The Movie to the list & thrown my support behind it.
For our purposes, however, I can't include Life Is Beautiful because it has more than 300 ratings from Listal users. It's a Great movie & one I'd gladly support under any other circumstances, but we're looking for lesser-known films here. So if you could please pick another movie that has less than 300 ratings on Listal, I'll gladly add it. :)

Oh really... wow, that rule really confused me. I actually thought it said more than 300 and kept changing the recommendations because of it. No, I understand now. Sorry for the mistake.
If I can add one more recommendation, I'd add Superman vs. The Elite to the list. It is an interesting movie, rather than focusing on physical challenges for the Man of Steel. This is a movie that focuses on the philosophical challenges to Superman's optimistic ideal. I recommend anyone check this one out.

Updated!

Quick question, when you are providing support behind does it have to be only from this specific month or go back to other months... just curious.

You can totally give support for any movies in the project, be they from January or this month.
Or heck, I've been doing that at least.
