A very good movie

To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie and I should definitely re-watch it at some point. I wonder if I actually saw it in the movie theater when it was released. Anyway, back in the 90’s, I used to be a huge fan of Spike Lee’s work and even though this movie is nowadays rather forgotten, I think it is actually one of the best delivered by this director. Strike is a young city drug pusher under the tutelage of drug-lord Rodney Little, who, when not playing with model trains or drinking Moo for his ulcer, just likes to chill with his brothers near the benches outside the project houses. When a night man at a fast-food restaurant is found with four bullets in his body, Strike's older brother turns himself in as the killer. Det. Rocco Klein doesn't buy the story, however, and sets out to find the truth, and it seems that all the fingers point toward Strike & Rodney.

30 From 95: My Favorite Films From 1995 (30 movies items)

"During the early to mid 90's, when he was kickstarting his career, character actor John Turturro had a habit of popping up in alot of Spike Lee Joints. Which was a good thing because whenever you saw JT's name on the credits, you knew you were about to watch a film that costarred an actor who took his craft seriously. He seemed like he was determined to focus his career on more relevant films. Fast forward to the late 2000's, and now, you can see John Turturro in movies like the badly-written"

Basically, it is some kind of crime thriller combined with the Hood genre which was so popular in the 90’s. As a result, you get to see a really entertaining murder investigation taking place in a raw and realistic urban environment and this mix worked really well. Indeed, the whole thing was really bleak and even rather depressing and shows how the life of a drug dealer is seriously dangerous and rather hopel” read more
