A deeply disturbing but brilliant work. This had been on my want-to-watch list for ages, mainly for the ensemble made up of Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier, James Mason, Lilli Palmer, Denholm Elliott, Bruno Ganz, Walter Gotell, Rosemary Harris, Michael Gough and Steve Guttenberg. What a cast! And I wasn't disappointed; Peck and Olivier are phenomenal in this film. Olivier plays a Nazi-hunter, track... read more
I thought it was pretty good. On one hand, the story is completely preposterous and doesn't make much sense but, on the other hand, during WWII, the Nazis did many things which didn't much made sense at all with the terrible consequences that we all know. Thus, what happens in the movie actually follow their neurotic and psychotic way of thinking. Anyway, there are a also few annoying scenes (like... read more

"You're not a guard now, madame! You are a prisoner! I may leave here today empty handed. But you... are not going anywhere."
While this was a good movie, it wasn't without it's flaws. Gregory Peck and Laurence Olivier's performances were amazing and it was suspenseful at times, but a couple of the secondary characters were annoying and I think the plot could've been executed better. It was a good movie, but I think it had the potential to be better."

"Gregory Peck sekoilee antaumuksella itse tohtori Mengelenä, joka Argentiinaan paenneena suunnittelee mitä ilkeimpiä kepposia pahaa aavistamattomien silmien ulottumattomissa. Sir Laurence Olivier puolestaan on Ezra Liebermann, natsienmetsästäjä jonka aksentti on jotain kultaakin kauniimpaa. Elokuvassa myös tapetaan Steve Guttenberg, mistä nautin kovasti. Ezraaaaaaa!"

Thus, what happens in the movie actually follow their neurotic and psychotic way of thinking. Anyway, there are a also few annoying scenes (like, for example, the confrontation between Mengele and Lieberman) but it remains a good flick thanks to the competent directing, the awesome actors which deliver top perfomances (Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier and James Mason) and the story which was just horrifying and still rather fascinating. Definitely worth a look.” read more

What a cast! And I wasn't disappointed; Peck and Olivier are phenomenal in this film. Olivier plays a Nazi-hunter, tracking down war criminals all over the world including Peck’s Josef Mengele who has organised the mysterious assassinations of 94 civil servants in Europe and North America and to resurrect Hitler himself through cloning. Naturally, it's up to Olivier and his associates to stop him. It's all a bit over the top and occasionally becomes more silly than sinister, particularly the Nazi convention ballr” read more
