Judas and the Black Messiah update feed
"Format: In-Flight Movie Viewing: 1st Thoughts: We've seen plenty of movies that have depicted the Black Panthers, but I'd say this is probably the best to date. It's gritty and raw filmmaking, with a great sense of foreboding throughout. It reminded me of Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit. It does have the usual trappings of the undercover mole story, but Lakeith Stanfield and Daniel Kaluuya are just so damn good in this that all is forgiven. Also need to point out that the use of Rahsaan Roland Kirk's "
" Notes: I have to admit that I didn’t know much about Fred Hampton and it was really neat to learn more about this inspiring guy. Indeed, that he had accomplished so much and that he had reached such wisdom at such a young age was just really impressive and it would have been interesting to find some actors who were actually around the same age of their characters (Indeed, Daniel Kaluuya and LaKeith Stanfield were both at least 10 years older than their characters). Still, there is no denying"

“Since I kept hearing some really good things about this movie, I was really eager to check it out. Well, first of all, it was a really badass title. Furthermore, I have to admit that I didn’t know much about Fred Hampton and it was really neat to learn more about this inspiring guy. Still, there is no denying that Kaluuya and Stanfield both delivered such strong performances, they were both quite pitch-perfect and seriously spellbinding to behold. So, t” read more

Everyone else did an amazing job with their performances including Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now). Every character was well-developed and you can feel a strong connecti"

"And the Nominees are... *Sacha Baron Cohen- The Trial of the Chicago 7 *Daniel Kaluuya- Judas and the Black Messiah *Leslie Odom Jr.- One Night in Miami *Paul Raci- Sound of Metal *LaKeith Stanfield- Judas and the Black Messiah And the Oscar goes to... Kaluuya's taken every precursor prize, and Judas has proven to be a very strong player. The only concern for him is his costar. While vote splitting is likely not a major concern here, we haven't seen these two go head to head this season, s"

"March 16th Directed by: Shaka King If you're watching all the Best Picture nominees I recommend watching this one BEFORE Trial of the Chicago 7. So it's another "based on true events", but this movie feels theatrical, I'm sitting here watching this on a laptop but I felt like I was in a theater at times, I got really sucked into the atmosphere. The story here is tragic and fascinating and the director actually DID something with it outside of just portraying events. It's kind of amazing this "
"1.Daniel Kaluuya- Judas and the Black MessiahThe Globe win was the confirmation that Kaluuya is the frontrunner here. 2.Sacha Baron Cohen- The Trial of the Chicago 7Lock. 3.Leslie Odom Jr.- One Night in MiamiLock. 4.Chadwick Boseman- Da 5 BloodsAfter those top three, there doesn't seem to be any clear consensus as to what way voters will go. With that in mind, this seems to me the perfect place to give Boseman another shout out. He scored a SAG nod here, and his passing makes this potential n"
