" A homicide detective and an anthropologist try to destroy a South American lizard-like god, who's on a people eating rampage in a Chicago museum. " First Viewing Viewing Date: March 6th Via: Blu-ray Plot: A homicide detective and an anthropologist try to destroy a South American lizard-like god, who's on a people eating rampage in a Chicago museum. Rating: 6.3/10 Why Did I Watch It? It's an R-rated monster movie from the '90s, directed by Peter Hyams."

" Date: 6/7/2021 Viewed: Hulu Re-watch Note: I haven't seen The Relic since it was on VHS back in the late 90s, and I was curious to see if it holds up or not. After watching it again on Hulu, it's not a bad movie. The Relic has an interesting premise of a killer monster inside a Museum. It has a similar vibe to Alien (1979) by being very atmospheric. Similar to Alien, the film builds up to the appearance of the monster over time. You don't see much of the monster until later on in the film. "

"Modern man oversteps his boundaries by mucking about with other cultures and inadvertently unleashes a beast upon civilization. It's a trope done to death, so it's quite refreshing to see it done with all the monster chomping glee (and grue) that The Relic manages. The movie knows what it is and it revels in it. Very fun. "
