Symphaty for the devil Eastwood, old 'inimputable' man. Simple narrative by accumulation of drug passes, Clint breaks bad and soft and crime doesn't pay at the end...

A pensive, enjoyable, humorous character study

2018's The Mule is the latest motion picture undertaking for Clint Eastwood as both director and actor, denoting his first big screen appearance since Trouble with the Curve back in 2012. Eastwood is surely one of the oldest filmmakers to pull off the double duty, yet he still has what it takes on both sides of the camera. With a screenplay by Gran Torino scribe Nick Schenk, The Mule is not the wh... read more

Following the truly dreadful ‘The 15:17 to Paris’, easily his weakest directing effort so far, Clint Eastwood didn’t waste time and released this movie the very same year. Since it had received some solid reviews, I was quite eager to check it out and see if the guy managed to redeem himself somehow. Well, eventually, even though it was indeed miles better than ‘The 15:17 to Paris’, it w... read more

" Watched: 01/05/2019 Rating: 7.0 Format: Theater Caught an early screening of this today and while its not up there with his best work its still petty good id place it somewhere in the middle for him but at least it was for sure more watchable than his previous film The 15:17 To Paris that movie was just boring. After watching this though i think it might just time for Clint to retire maybe he has one more left in him but idk. "

"4.11. Netflix Viihdyttävää ja mukavaa seurattavaa, mutta samassa valtavan naiivi ja sentimentaalinen. Rasistinen puoli ei minua häiritse, sillä sentään tällä saralla haastaa edes jotenkin. Vaikkakin riitaa. Eastwoodin karisma on edelleen ilmeinen, ei tätä muuten näillä eväin jaksaisi. Kunnianhimo ohjaajana lienee vain loppunut."

Top 10 Manliest Movies of 2018 (10 movies items)

" "Family's the most important thing... Don't do what I did. I put work in front of family." The Mule is precisely the type of motion picture we expect and want from Clint Eastwood at this point in his career; a simplistic but effective drama with true story roots, and with the same screenwriter as Gran Torino, it features the exact same combination of drama and humour. Indeed, The Mule made me laugh more than virtually any comedy released during 2018, but the jokes aren't dumb or slapstick - the"

" As a director Eastwood seems to be going down a strange path. I love his ability to experiment at his ripe old age, but this one fell a little flat. Still, he no doubt is the big sell as the main actor. Too bd the supporting cast seems second rate. The movie left me with thinking he could have made this a better movie ten years ago. "

Since it had received some solid reviews, I was quite eager to check it out and see if the guy managed to redeem himself somehow. Well, eventually, even though it was indeed miles better than ‘The 15:17 to Paris’, it was only a decent watch though. I mean, it was a strong story but I was missing some tension, some suspense. For example, it was refreshing that the main character would get along fine with all these cartel gangsters but this approach did have its drawbacks. Indeed, not only it turned the whole thing unintentionally into a pro-drug trafficking commercial (seriously, if you would believe this movie,” read more
