Eric Roth penned the script and is loved by the academy. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are very popular. If it's treated like the three previous iterations it will be loved by the academy.

Reasons for Prediction: I can see the academy loving a serious Steve Carell role. Timothy Chalamet is primed for an acting nomination, bringing light to a best picture nom. It's based on two critically successful books, and directed by Felix Van Groeningen, who seems to be in the correct trajectory with a best director and best picture nomination.

If Beale Street Could Talk (2018)
Reasons for Prediction: Barry Jenkins has a short resume but is overwhelmingly loved. Based on a critically loved book, topic still applies to today's societal race issues. It seems like a shoe-in.

Vice (2018)
Reasons for Prediction: Director Adam McKay has such a refreshing take on horribly dull topics that he just may make Dick Cheney interesting, and the academy looks for such things. The cast is insane and all past academy award-winners/nominees.

Reasons for Prediction: This is director McQueen's long-awaited follow-up to the best picture winning, "12 Years a Slave" (2013). That's really all I need, I think, for this justification, haha.
