" Director: Sean Baker His 5th Movie My 3rd movie watched from the director. Obnoxious from the get-go. I felt like I was losing brain cells trying to listen to the dialogue. Knowing this was made with mobile phones helped me get through most of it. I liked the shoestring/guerrilla style filmmaking. Even if I couldn't stand the characters or dialogue the pacing and filming techniques kept me interested enough. "

"It’s Christmas Eve in Tinseltown and Sin-Dee is back on the block. Upon hearing that her pimp boyfriend hasn’t been faithful during the 28 days she was locked up, the working girl and her best friend, Alexandra, embark on a mission to get to the bottom of the scandalous rumour. This is a slice-of-life movie about lives you don’t typically see — transgender prostitutes and their clients and it is all shot on a mobile phone. Apart from a pretty decent and modern soundtrack, there is very "
“Meet Sin-Dee (Kitana Kiki Rodriguez), a trans sex worker fresh off a 28-day prison stint as she embarks on an odyssey across Los Angeles. Her mission? To confront her cheating pimp/boyfriend (James Ransome) and the “real fish” (translation: cisgender female, played by Mickey O’Hagan) he slept with while she was locked away. Joining her mission is Alexandra (Mya Taylor), Sin-Dee’s best friend and fellow trans sex worker, and Razmik (Karren Karaguilan), a cab driver with a predilection for trans sex workers. Tangerine is a lot in a short running time, much of it the sight of Sin-Dee hoisting Dinah, the “fish,” across town in order to confront Chester, said boyfriend. She can’t carry around her dead carcass, so the foul-mouthed, barely dressed living presence will have to d” read more

"August 19 "Merry Christmas Eve, Bitch." I found this on Netflix and I thought it sounded interesting, so I checked it out and it was pretty good. The story itself isn't the most original, but it still works due to the strength of the characters and the writing. I was invested in the main characters, the world that this film builds and it does have a good sense of humor. For the most part at least. There was this one scene where one of our main characters was dragging another girl by the hair"

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this movie and the main reason I wanted to check it out was because it was included last year in the ’1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die’. To be honest, it seemed to be one of these really obscure entries that they add every year just so the list might seem edgy but, usually, those movies are removed directly the year after. Furthermore, I had the feeling that this movie was somewhat surfing on the current hype around the transgender topic. Still, it was quite an intriguing feature nonetheless. Indeed, it was definitely a really raw and realistic look on the life of some transgender prostitutes working in Hollywood and you definitely get another view on the American dream. Furthermore, the two main characters, Alexandra and Sin-Dee Rell” read more

" Little-known director Sean S. Baker came out of left field with an aesthetically unique, darkly funny and surprisingly moving film shot completely with iPhones, made on a shoestring budget and featuring mainly non-actors, yet containing more heart than most other movies that came out the same year."

"OTHER SIDE AND LIFE ON THE STREETS OF HOLLYWOOD Usually we all think entertainment business, movie stars, clamour, success and town of opportunities when we see or say the word Hollywood. But this film shows us the whole other side of that magical town from where we all are dreaming. This is a beautiful and touching story of two transgender sex workers and their unbending friendship on the streets of Hollywood. It also shows us the unembellished side for the lower rank citizens and how they're "
