A cattle-vs.-sheepman feud loses Connie Dickason her fiance, but gains her his ranch, which she determines to run alone in opposition to Frank Ivey, "boss" of the valley, whom her father Ben wanted her to marry. She hires recovering alcoholic Dave Nash as foreman and a crew of Ivey's enemies. Ivey fights back with violence and destruction, but Dave is determined to counter him legally, a feeling not shared by his associates. Connie's boast that, as a woman, she doesn't need guns proves justified, but plenty of gunplay results.

"7.11. 2019 A woman inherits a ranch and defends it by any means necessary against brutal criminals. "Ramrod" is a dated western that suffers from sexist stereotypes typical for its era. Fortunately Toth is a talented director who can still make decent and at least mildly entertaining films even if a script is trashy."

"22.2. Ramrodissa päähenkilömme tapaa neiti Dickasonin. Leffa oli myös western. Sellaisena se on ehkä hieman tavanomaista 40-luvun westerniä kyynisempi, mutta en minä siitä kauheasti mitään ihmeellistä innostumisen aihetta löytänyt. Teknisesti jälki on peruspätevää. Päähenkilön leuka on sen verran kulmikas, että hän kuuluisi johonkin unohdettuun epookkiin esittämään senaattori Aurelius Maximusta eikä westerniin."
