Promised land is a promising story of a gas company representative who come in a small town to convince people to allow them to tap the Shale Gas resources under their farmland. The job seems to be an easy one to lure poor farm people with the shine of the money, however it become other way round. This movie was actually supposed to be Matt Damon's directing début but, I guess, it wasn't meant to be. Eventually, he still remained to play the lead but Gus Van Sant took over the directing duties.
