As a family movie, this isn't bad. It's fairly decent if you intend to watch it with children. However, it is a bit rough to sit through if you have no children around to keep it playing. Overall, it's just all right. Nothing special, totally forgettable, and really best left untouched - unless a child you know wants to see it. This is a children's movie, adults without children can skip this one. The movie is too frenetic and doesn't know what it wants to be. A mix of a child Indiana Jones, a touch magic, a touch of Dr. Dolittle, some fantasy and pathetic romance. Unfortunately, they just don't mix well. There are couple of high powered actors in this film, but Abigail Breslin is the one that stole the show. Her smile was infectious in Sunshine and it radiates in this film again. She had a positive presence that was contagious and fun to watch.
