Sling Blade (1997)
Name: Karl Childers

Description: Karl Childers was sent to a mental institution since he was a child up until his being an older adult at the time of Sling Blade's beginning for killing his mother's lover - who he caught with his mom and thought was raping her - with a kaiser blade. He has a thick Southern accent and is a faithful Christian. When he gets out he finds himself bonding with a young boy named Frank Wheatley as well as his mother Linda, and her gay friend Vaughan. Childers becomes protective of the rest of the group from Linda's boyfriend Doyle's mean personality.
These movies have important characters with neurological impairments. In the notes more detail is gone into. I apologize if the term "Mental retardation" offends anyone - I mean only to give the generalized term that covers that particular disorder.
