The True Spirit Of Fantasy

Legend was probably the first movie to come into my life where I felt that it truly captured the fantasy element of a sword & sorcery saga that I always wanted to see on film when it came to this genre. The visuals in this movie are amazing, bright & filled with alot of energy (especially for it's time). The designs of the landscape & the characters encapsulate the kind of style that I would have... read more

No legend, but no tragedy

Poorly received by the critics on first release, I was curious as to what this film would be like in comparison with other Ridley Scott works and other fantasy movies.  It was an interesting choice of project following the complex and thematically dense Blade Runner.  Legend is far more straightforward and clearly aimed at a much younger audience. The first thing that strikes you is the visuals, ... read more

A good movie

At almost 80 years old, Ridley Scott is still incredibly productive and after several disappointing pictures, he once again managed to make an impressive come-back with ‘The Martian’ which turned out to be a big critical and commercial success. Personally, I have seen every single movie directed by this guy and, through the years, I have developed some kind of love-hate relationship with this ... read more

A magical adventure which features elves, demons and other mythical creatures. Darkness, the personification of evil, plans to disperse eternal night in the land where this story takes place, by killing every unicorn in the world. Although he looks unbeatable, Jack and his friends are disposed to do everything to save the world and princess Lili (who Darkness intends to make his wife) from the hands of this evil monster.

You know......for kids! (162 movies items)

"As someone pointed on this site, Darkness comes across as "a lovesick jerk", and oddly enough, some even consider him a sex symbol of some sort. Fair enough. Keep in mind, he does try (and do I emphasize the word try), to get Lily to kill a unicorn, and sure he is impressive looking as giant creatures go, but the relationship probably would be short lived, if she did get through with it, and killed the unicorn. That and there is Meg Knucklebones and those goblins type thingies. "

Movies the giraffe watched in 2018: July (26 movies items)

"First viewing - July 29th Ok, so first off I quickly realized that I've only seen part of Legend before this viewing but had assumed due to the passing of time that I'd watched the whole thing. Oops. Thankfully though this meant my first experience with the film was via the director's cut, which is excellent. I spent most of the film impressed by the set design and got caught up in the story. If I'd actually seen it when I was younger I probably would've watched it a ton and sang its praises in"
