So it's a remake of District B13. For me especially with Paul Walker as the main character it feels like Escape From New York meets The Fast and The Furious. There are many awesome fight and parkour chase scenes that just pump up your adrenaline. Some of the fight scenes were cool and I just love seeing parkour especially thrown into fight scenes. David Belle plays the same character he did in the... read more

I wasn't expecting much from this flick but since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. I have to admit that I haven't seen the original version, 'Banlieue 13', and since it has a decent reputation, I might check it out at some point but, to be honest, I didn't care much for this remake. Indeed, as usual with a Luc Besson production, the damned was pretty weak and bo... read more

"I stayed barely awake while watching this. I have seen the original once (somewhere between 2006-08 I think) and only remembered some bald guy parkouring around and a bomb defusal. Now I'm writing this about two weeks later and basically remember as much of this film. The dubbing of David Belle was hilarious. "

A Complete Review of Luc Besson's work (38 movies items)

" It was actually directed by Camille Delamarre. Luc Besson wrote and produced this movie. As usual with a Luc Besson production, the damned was pretty weak and boring. I mean, there was a few good ideas and some of the action scenes using parkour were actually pretty neat. In fact, I discovered afterwards that David Belle actually invented the disciple known as Parkour which was pretty cool so no wonder that the guy was so impressive during those scenes. Unfortunately, Besson remains a rather "

Film Journal 2014 (92 movies items)

" Ages ago, I watched the French film this was based on: District 13. Had I not seen that, and had it not been the exact movie in English with a few different actors, I would have absolutely adored this. It's got everything you look for in an action movie and more. Also-just a shitload of parkour. If you're an action-flick fan you should not pass this one up."

"Worst Paul Walker movie that I've seen so far. Looked like he made this while filming Fast And Furious movies, when he had time off from the shoots. Some of the action scenes were enjoyable to watch though. At least what you can make of them, considering this movie was cutted like Taken 3. There was maybe too many slow motion scenes but some of them looked neat. Main problem what I had with the movie along with editing, was poorly timed lip syncs. Especially in David Belle's scenes. Looked like"

The future kind of sucks. (381 movies items)

"Reason for the future sucking: Detriot becomes a demilitarized zone, with abandoned houses, now becoming makeshift prisons. Year it takes: The near future."
