Two young guys are friends struggling to live in northern Brazil. Chico is a kind hearted simple liar, and Jack's wit must often get them both out of trouble. Their adventures include convincing a priest to give mass for a dead dog, and getting a girl's boyfriends to leave town so Chico can woo her. When Jack is killed by gangsters, he must outsmart the Devil and then meet with the Virgin Mary and Christ to secure them both a good place in heaven.
