I really wanted to give this a higher rating, but I just did not understand why they needed to remove so many things from the novel in the transition to film. Why did they need to change character names, or write out characters all together that easily could have fit? I know it's cliche to complain about books being better, but this film is way too toned down in scope and humor, and that's a damn shame because the interaction between the two main characters is wonderful in the book. And honestly why the fuck did you change the name of the dog? Why did they take out the huge twist at the end of the novel? I just don't get it at all to be quite honest. Overall, I enjoyed it very much, but at a price I guess given the fact it's a poor translation of a great and creative novel.
