While one can't deny that the film looks great, and the action sequences are pretty fun, the movie never really finds its footing. It starts way too quickly, never truly developing its characters, and not really giving any reason to care. If it would have just played to the campy fun that the title insisted, this could have been an enjoyable little film, but it just doesn't work. Great title, okay... read more

This film just isn't that good, I'd say around average to be fair. The fighting scene's showing the civil war especially, in a nut shell, they suck, however there are a few good axe swinging scenes that just about make up for it and to be fair Benjamin Walker does move that axe pretty well. It was the numerous times the vampires are dumb, as well as Abe developing super powers with no real explanation. Relationship with his friends is never really developed. Characters are routinely dumb."
