There seems to be a growing appreciation for this film and the imdb score goes up every time I look at it. Probably my all-time favourite movie.

Cronenberg seems to get a hard time of it with imdb scores.

I think everyone had overdosed on Hong Kong cinema by the time this came out and thought it was just another Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. This is a much more beautiful and epic film than the aforementioned.

John Carpenter does a perfect remake of a classic sci-fi in full John Carpenter style and it gets 5.6 on imdb? Pff.

Cyber-zombies?, Richard Pryor?, Evil drunk Superman flicking peanuts?, Computer game missile targeting?. It's probably not as good as the first two but 4.9 on imdb? Superman IV makes this film look Oscar-worthy.

Yes, crowbarring Dracula in spoils it a bit, but this film doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
