Village of the Damned (1960)
I loved this movie! Creepy, suspenseful, and again creepy. That adjective is sadly the only thing that comes to this film. It's a good scare and highly recommended. I cannot say enough!

Predators (2010)
I do not care what any movie critic says, I loved this movie. If the franchise wants to move forward this is the direction that they should go. I wasn't at first sold on Brody as a badass, but you don't need bulging muscles to star in a Predator movie. Just ask Danny Glover. A must see.
Mr. Lays's rating:

My Bloody Valentine (2009)
Um, it's just about what you expect from a remake. I've seen better...and worse.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Sex and the City 2 (2010)
I will not fall into typical male bravado by saying this movie sucks just to say it, but this sequel is inferior compared to the first movie. It feels like it was just filmed just for the sake of being filmed. Being introduced to this series by my Wife I have grown to appreciate these characters and my investment in them this time has been betrayed. I can say, as a straight happily married man, watch the first one if you are somewhat of a fan of the series, but beware this one is just for the die hard fans.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Saw VI (2009)
Just about all horror/torture porn fans agree the Saw franchise has just about overstayed it's welcome. The well written plots were a rarity in this genre. These movies (for a time) upped the ante for fleshing out a story, but the last 3 have been on auto pilot. Without giving away too much there are twists.
And how far exactly are we going to go back in the franchise history just to keep Jigsaw's screen time up? What is going to be Jigsaw in Middle school?

The Escapist (2008)
It's been a while since I have seen Brian Cox in a leading role. This prison escape movie is (in my opinion) one of the greatest prison break movies of all time. I am a little bit conflicted about the ending though. It raises a few creative decisions. In conclusion, a must see.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Personally, romantic comedies are low on my list of must watch movies, but I really must recommend this film. If you want to enjoy it even more watch it with your significant other. Watch the questions arise.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Targets (1968)
I am still lost about where this film wanted to take me. Is it supposed to be a cautionary story about how any seemingly normal person can do such horrific acts of violence for no reason? Of something else that I may have overlooked? Interesting film nevertheless.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Ninja Assassin (2009)
Damn, this movie was an utter failure in my opinion. Maybe I was expecting the Matrix Brothers to restore my faith in them, but to no avail.
And I am aware the ninja work in the shadows, but really did the movie have to be so damn dark!

Gamer (2009)
Another letdown. The action is loud, shaky and just downright incoherent. Ugh, maybe next time.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Iron Man 2 (2010)
I enjoyed this film. This is Hollywood sequels at their best in my opinion. 'Nuff said.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Sherlock Holmes (2009)
I didn't think that I would enjoy it, but Guy Richtie has done it again. Who thought being smart would be as awesome as ass kicking. This will be an inevitable franchise. As long the same production teams are behind the films I cannot wait.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Avatar (2009)
I feel robbed...I watched this movie on a laptop. In 3D, my head my have exploded. Simply amazing. Like Dances With Wolves, but with giant blue people. I am sure that comparison hasn't been made before...
Mr. Lays's rating:

The Losers (2010)
The movie stumbles at times, but overall is worth a look. Would have benefited by being a solid rated R though.
Mr. Lays's rating:

A typical town goes crazy (or "zombiefied"?) and getting to the end of it is one sheriff and his big hat. Minus the obvious culprit for the aforementioned problem the film is a rental.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Kick-Ass (2010)
Usually, Nic Cage ruins a movie for me, but this was not the case at all. He had just enough screen time to make me not dislike him even more. My local comic book shop always recommends the comics to me and I always wind up buying something else. Damn, I regret it. This is on my to buy list right now.
Oh, I didn't even mention the movie...f***in' amazing!

Black Dynamite (2009) (2009)
I should have seen this in the theater! Watched this film last night. How original...bringing back "Blaxpolation". (I don't mean that in a sarcastic way either.) The novelty does wear a little thin a times. (It would have been a hilarious Youtube video.) But the movie manages to stay fresh.
I've read rumors of a possible sequel. I am eager for it.

Mr. Lays's rating:

Carriers (2009)
No grand build up of why the disease does what it does just plenty character development. The movie may have been a little too slow at times, but it makes up for this with...huh, I don't know. Overall it is a decent flick just don't expect 28 Days or 28 Weeks caliber.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Wonderland (2003)
A true life account of how legendary thespian actor John Holmes assisted in killing four people, but just to what extent? I really enjoyed the directing of this film. It reminds me of True Romance for some reason. Not b/c of the twisted relationship between Holmes and his girlfriend, but other reasons. I liked this film. It lets you make your own assumptions in the end. Some may dislike that it concluded without you never really having an answer. That is where personal opinion comes in.
Mr. Lays's rating:

I knew this film was going to be atrocious, but nothing could prepare me.
The 1 star rating is strictly because I had a thing for Asian women.

Inception (2010)
What possibly could I write about this excellent film that hasn't been wrote before? Um, Youtube the "Leo Strut".
Mr. Lays's rating:

Salt (2010)
Despite what all of the critics have to say about this film I was entertained tremendously. It had me guessing almost towards the end. Damn, I must be losing my touch when it comes to guessing story lines in movies.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Drag Me to Hell (2009)
People who speak the language of film with me understand my detest for certain genres whoring themselves out with the PG-13 rating. I know this is a business, but don't make a possibly good movie bad because some suits want to capture the "tween" market.
I digress, Sam Ranmi has scared the shite out of me with this one.

The Fourth Kind (2009)
No joke, this movie had me scared to go to sleep. I figured that some of this was staged. But it just seemed so damn convincing. By day three I was back to normal. Good scare though.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Takers (2010)
This movie is exactly what I expected it to be. A minor Heat for my generation.
Mr. Lays's rating:

Terminator Salvation (2009)
Conflicting emotions engulf me when I think about this film. I have viewed it three times (once the Blu-ray Director's Cut) and still I feel a disappointed. I know this franchise, but this isn't it. I (Don't get me wrong it is still light years better than the last sequel.) I was ecstatic when Christan Bale joined as John Connor, but everything else just kinda falls apart. I blame McG. This could have been something truly amazing, yet we get a product that is about two steps above his previous films that we shall not mention. *sigh*
